Fear of medication

I FINALLY got antibiotics for my tooth infection, but nows the hard part.. to actually take them. I don’t know why I’m freaking out SO bad. I’ve taken these exact antibiotics 100 times and was fine, shit I even had iv antibiotics (same kind I have to take) when I was in labor with my daughter but all I can think about is side effects, or dying from them, I don’t know why, because I know I’ve never had an issue with these antibiotics before, except that you have to drink a few cups of water with it and sit up for a half hour after taking, I only had one side effect ever from it the first time I took it, and it was severe acid reflux because I didn’t read the bottle and didn’t drink a bunch of water and laid down right after taking. I haven’t taken anything since November 2017, because I haven’t needed anything and when I say anything I literally mean anything. How do I do this, I’m scared that if I’m freaking out that bad I won’t be able to swallow it, and will get the really bad acid reflux and everything else or something worse 😭😭😭

Ok so you know you have taken these before ( I’m guessing amoxicillin or something similar) and you did not have an allergic reaction to it right? Just keep telling yourself... I will be fine, I have done it before. Taking meds is so hard for a lot of us in this group so I totally understand. Sometimes I can’t take a Tylenol if it looks different than the last one I took. Also look at it this way... if you do not treat the infected area, you will be in a way worse place and perhaps be hospitalized on IV antibiotics and pain meds. You can pretreat your tummy with an over the counter Zantac or Prevacid or just use tums. But you know you will not die or need to go to the ER for tummy issues or the antibiotics.

If by tommorow you still can’t take them have the dentist call in Ativan.5 like 5 or 6 of them, take before antibiotics 45 minutes and then easy peasy. I would only suggest that if you really can’t take them and give yourself a break because some people truly can’t and it’s debilitating. Let us know how it goes❤️

Clindamycin 😭😭 thank you for the advise, it just makes it worse that it’s such a strong antibiotic, and it’s the only one I can take

Hi I have heard that taking meds with milk helps you to swallow them. Also having natural yoghurt can stop any potential stomach problems.

I know it's difficult but you have to decide whether to take them or put up with the pain. It's the lesser of 2 evils. If you are worried have someone with you when you take them just in case. Oh and toothache ab's can't kill you as they aren't that strong or powerful, especially if you have taken them before. x

That's Russian Roulette, what will happen to you if you get an infection will far Worse? My daughter's ex-boyfriends mother died from a mouth infection...good luck
