Panic attacks in sleep

Hello since last year I’ve quit heavily smoking marijuana & have been suffering from extreme anxiety & panic attacks I’ve been trying to treat without medication. I also suffer from chronic migraines and started on propranolol to help prevent them but stopped after two months as the side effects were very negative.

While on it & even now off I haven’t been able to sleep properly I wake up minimum 5 times throughout the night and I’ve been having panic attack or anxiety in my sleep and every time I wake up I’m shaking, feel dizzy & just generally feel like I was having a panic attack while asleep. Does this happen to anyone else and have you been able to get relief.. I haven’t had a proper nights sleep in over 2 months lol I feel exhausted every day.

We as anxiety sufferers all seem to have a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep. Since you have quit marijuana, you say that anxiety and panic has gotten worse. That makes sense. Although they say it’s not physically addictive it for sure has a psychological addiction factor. I have a card, tried it for 6 months for anxiety and while it helped it made me couch locked (indica). There are several alternative treatments to help you sleep and not wake up with panic attacks. It sounds as if you have been going the natural route for a long time. Now not only do you have anxiety you are also sleep deprived. Not sure if you are willing to try meds? Propanol wouldn’t put you to sleep and keep you from waking. Talk to your dr. If you don’t want to take an SSRI you could try trazadone or Benadryl or other over the counter sleep aids. The big gun for sleep is ambien however some people feel a bit hungover in the morning. Good luck let us know how you do
