Is it usual to feel weak after a few days of stressing out and anxiety

Had a great sleep last night, but after the last 2 or 3 days of stressing with those shaky feelings and nausea etc I’m feeling quite that muscle weakness today, mainly in my arms and across my shoulders, still feeling tired as well. I did get myself worked up last couple of days or so so guessing that’s how it’s coming out today. Anyone else has the same feeling after a few days of anxiety? I should know by now but sometimes just need some reassurance that others can feel the same.

Hi Sam.

I did not feel muscle weakness as it did not affect me in that way but would likely feel a bit nauseous when that had happened.

Hope you find something to do today.

I think I will go cycling but the weather is not great, a bit rainy and windy so may go in the car instead. My husband had gone to our boat to get it ready for the season, late because he had been tied up doing our house extension.

All the best.

Thanks Kim. It’s weird because although that’s how they feel they’re not if you know what I mean, I can lift my arms up and hold something it gives you the impression they’re so weak you can’t lift them. The feeling is weird and not very pleasant. Yes that’s my problem most of the time thinking of something to do. Rain showers on and off here. The last time I went on a bike I went down. Keen and fell off. Never been so embarrassed in my life lol. That was many years ago now havent been on one since. It’s not too windy here so I’ll ha w to think of something to distract me today

Yes it is normal, I feel dreadfully weak, sluggish and like I’m carrying myself. Particularly if the anxiety/panic attacks have dragged on for days. It seems to take ages for my body to recover from all the stress it puts itself under.

Thank you, yes I know, we get so uptight then the release is the complete opposite.

It's definitely normal to get 'physical' responses to stress in your body.

The muscle 'weakness' you're describing is likely as a result of tension over the last few days.

I hope today is a better day for you.

It’s a nightmare.

I’ve been ok last few days but tomorrow could be a different day.

Absolutely! I was speaking to an advisor at our brilliant support line 'Breathing Space' here in Scotland yesterday, and she explained that it is normal to feel exhausted after a period of high stress - an 'adrenaline comedown', if you will. Take care!❤

P.S. - I thoroughly recommend using a good mental health helpline - whilst advice on forums is great, the guys who are trained in these issues can really help you to find a way forward and suggest good coping strategies. I find the charities to be the best - Mind, etc. ❤

Meredyn,

Where do you find these help lines?

Yes. I always feel physically and emotionally drained and on edge for days. I’m sure it is a natural reaction. Reassurance is constantly needed, I know. I also worry about if it will happen again.

These feelings will pass, and you will move on. Try to relax. ( easier said, I know.) I do recommend the ‘headspace’ app. Maybe it isn’t for everyone, but it helps me get through these times, along with using this anxiety support.Over time you can develop your own little strategies to manage these times if they happen again. Best wishes.
