Zoloft update

I’ve successfully tapered off!

I had a fun day yesterday - felt a bit jittery and spaced/weird as usual but the day was fun. Had a bit of health anxiety again, but slept really well.

I’m hoping the side effects go away completely. There’s still there but tapering did help.

I have therapy tonight, and I’m still scared of being crazy or going crazy, but I’m using the terrible experience on meds to work more on my wellness.

Cheers!

Even though I'd really like to say "no one should take pills for anxiety" I think that would be premature on my part and perhaps even reckless...but my experience echoes yours. Getting off (only 3 months worth) of pills was the catalyst for getting over the anxiety. I think a staggering number of people who are on medication would probably be better off without it in the long run, and we should see it as a means of having a reprieve from symptoms to be able to regroup as opposed to a long-term solution. Happy to hear you're doing better! Sounds like you're well on your way back to normalcy.

Agree... It definitely numbed the symptoms so I could focus on my CBT (the symptoms were what freaked me out!) but man.. the side effects from the medication were freaky. How long was it til you felt 100% normal after 3 months of taking pills? It was only a month for me (with 2 weeks of tapering included).

Hmm, well I had other symptoms from the tension that took months to resolve, so those kept my health anxiety "active" longer than had I not been getting brain fog, dizzy spells, walking-on-a-boat feeling, tension headaches and fatigue. So for me it was about 3 months or so. I'd initially blamed all those things on the pills, which is why I stopped taking them. Physio ended up doing much more for me than the pills did in the end!

That’s great to hear! Yeah, I totally understand where you’re coming from. The brain fog is for real. My vision is a bit blurry this AM; seems to be the trend for days I don’t take Zoloft. Your story gives me hope! Honestly, it’s so hard to focus on anything but what’s going on physically so good on you for seeking other treatment!!

I’m glad you were able get through your tapering process. I know it was a lot to go through and I’m glad your doing better.

Thank you!!! Hoping I keep feeling more like myself. I still feel the effects, but I’m trying HARD to be me and not focus on them. How are you? Are you hanging in there?

Yeah I’m doing ok. On the positive side I sent in my medical paperwork today for the appointment, and I have been forcing myself to keep on doing estate issues and helping my mom today. I was going to that stuff after work. I didn’t have the energy to do both, plus felt in state of brain fog for most of the morning.

It’s complex ( even the distance alone a 3 hour plus drive one way makes it hard to help) and it takes all of my energy. But I try my best for everyone.

Good!!! You doing so much for others is a sure way to tell you’ll be just fine. I know how it feels to have the energy sucked away. Your doc is going to know just what to do and you’ll be better in no time. Keep pushing yourself - even when it doesn’t feel good, you’re making progress ❤️
