I don’t know what to do?

i’ve been feeling dizzy constantly since middle january, it’s worst when i’m relaxed, trying to sleep or laid down. The severity of it changes depending on if i’m distracted, when it suddenly gets worse it’s like vertigo and i feel like everything’s spinning and i feel unsteady. I also feel sick and i get a weird sensation, shaking, hearts racing ,sweaty palms and my ears are ringing or a blocked feeling.I’m confused to if it’s my anxiety causing the dizziness or if i’m just nervous about feeling dizzy, if that makes sense.

I’ve been to the doctors multiple times and nothing theyre prescribed is working, i’m very worries that it won’t go away.

If anyone else is suffering from this and if anyone has any advice , it would be appreciated:))

Hey Amy - yep, I've had dizziness for a long time and it's definitely tied to my anxiety level. I've also wondered whether the dizziness is causing my anxiety or if it's the other way around - it's a seemingly unanswerable question. One thing I do is go for a walk. I'm dizzy most of the time while on the walks, but something about proving that I can still function is uplifting. I've never once fallen down or tipped over, though it feels for the world like I might. Also, find the books or audiobooks by Dr. Claire Weekes - she's my anxiety hero, and she talks about the dizziness issues which helps me to be less frightened of them. Hang in there, Love!

thankyou so much, it’s good (in a way) that there is at least someone who also has this , it’s just so confusing and worrying.

Same goes :)

hi there,im sorry to hear of the dizzy turns ,I only experience very mild spells ,and that is enough for me ,as if it got worse I think id crack up ,stress and anxiety is bad enough so I sympathise with those who experience this frightening feelings;Dr C,Weeks certainly spoke about it and that does help to understand that your not alone!

Hi,I am dizzy from seven months.I have undergone all the tests....nothing.I can tell you from my experience that distraction is one of the best tools to fight this. If distraction doesn't work, accept that you ARE dizzy and don't get scared from the sensation. I am living a challenging life after the onset of this sensation, but we need a lot of courage to overcome this.Otherwise, it has ability to make us paranoid.I have 14 months old baby, taking care of him has become a daunting task....but anyways,I am lifting myself every second of the day.Due to my dizzy spells, I am surely turning into a hypochondriac.

Always remember ,we can overcome any adversity by changing our mindset. So my friend, don't worry.Hang on.

Dizziness or a sort of spaciness has been my main symptom for over 45 years! I have taken meclizine, a medicine for inner ear issues that helps sometimes. Sometimes it does not, but at least I have tried something! This dizziness almost got me fired when, many years ago I was a school bus driver and refused to drive the bus because I felt so weird. I'm 76 and was diagnosed only 4 years ago! The dizziness and mental fog are still my main symptom, along with leg weakness. Just getting over a run of pred for the latest flare. Please try the meclizine and see if it might help. It is OTC in dramamine, but a Rx is usually cheaper.

has anyone given you a good explanation/medical or otherwise for your dizziness and how do you cope on an everyday basis----cant be much fun.

the doctor hasn’t given a proper explanation it’s just been “oh it could be this “ but it hasn’t been that, if that makes sense. I don’t have a way of coping to be honest :/ it’s gone when i’m distracted so i try and keep myself busy which is exhausting. No fun at all 😂🥴

I can understand your frustration at no proper out come, have they gp/hospital done any tests or are they linking it to anxiety;are you on any type of meds for anxiety ?

my doctor did a blood test and it came back saying i had low iron, which i knew anyways , i got put on iron tablets but i haven’t had any changes since being on them for like 2 months , she has sent me back to therapy but that’s all she’s mentioned and no i’m not on meds for anxiety:/

An iron deficiency could cause some dizzy spells but not how your describing, its best to find out why your iron levels are low,i had that problem 3 years ago, though it didn't make me feel dizzy-though everyones different and once your iron levels improve it would help for your doc tocheckout your medical history and get to the root of this problem-dizziness.

i’m planning on going back to the doctors to try and like explain everything abit better to see her new opinions , if any. i’m just always hoping she finds something to give me that finally gets rid of it , it’s exhausting 😴

well I will need to wrack my old brain,it all depends on what you prefer ,iron is in liver, eggs, red meat spinach, beans and all nuts are very good for your diet, dried fruit apricots...does any of that appeal and its worth asking your gp what type of anemia as there are a few ok.

Amyty19 im glad you said you are a picky eater as that the source of your problem lightheadedness /dizzy all represent lack of blood and you need to drink plenty of water for the blood to flow to your brain, hopefully that helps to stop or lessen diziness
