I have spent two days with pressure in the chest with anxiety I lay in bed and can’t move some times because when I do I feel like my heart is racing but it’s not is this just me

Absolutely not just you. There’s 40 million Americans with anxiety and I would say , most have that same feeling. It can’t hurt you I know it’s a tough thing to go through but just remember what I said in this post. When you think back to this post you’ll know your not alone. Try laying on your stomach. Try listening to anti anxiety audiobook books.

It’s more then likely palpitations. But I don’t know your age medical history or tests you have done to check your heart. Have you had a stress test done ? Have you at a minimum seen your GP and get his or her opinion?

Purchase a blood pressure , heart rate monitor. Available in drugstore.

Using this to gage weather or not there is a cardiac prblem. Feedback will help deminished anxiety.

Thanks

I’m so sorry you are going through this. I know this feeling well. It sounds like you only got diagnosed, but no treatment plan? Is there away you could do therapy sessions over Skype? Anxiety will not go away on its own and you have to confront it head on with either therapy, medication or likely a combination of both. It is important to eat healthy and exercise. This can help diminish anxiety. That means minimal sugar and carbs. These are foods we turn to when we are anxious, but they can just add fuel to our anxiety.

Negative self talk can become addictive. It’s like a drug. The more you participate, the more you can’t stop and the more anxiety it creates. I’ve been there and it’s scary. If you can start to change that inner voice, things will look brighter. Something that worked wonders for me was listening to sleep hypnosis. The reason I liked this was because all night long I heard positive affirmations. My waking mind couldn’t contradict it. After months of listening every night, my daytime negative talk changed. Now, I am able to use the words from the hypnosis during the day when I feel anxious. It is worth a try as it’s free and can’t hurt you. Listen to it all the way through while you are awake if you are afraid of what it is saying. My negative self talk was suspicious at first and didn’t want to listen to something while sleeping that might make me worse, but after listening while awake, I realized there was nothing to be concerned about.

There are many of these free hypnosis on YouTube, but my favorite is Thomas Hall. I listened to the Anxiety and Depression sleep hypnosis. Here’s the link. youtu.be/Cp9abS-7m_A

Thomas is wonderful and caring. He might have a specific one for agoraphobia. I know he has one for social anxiety. If not, ask him to make one. He will likely do it for you. Basically, the sessions change your brain waves and self talk. This might help ease the heart racing and anxiety enough to reach out and get further help from a psychiatrist or medical professional.

Although at times you might feel powerless to this anxiety ( I know I did), you are not powerless. You are stronger than you think. Sending positive thoughts to you!

I have a therapist appointment tomorrow and I can't stop having panic attacks I want to cancel bc I'm scared I'm going to give my self a heart attack

You've got this!!! Just keep telling yourself over and over that you can do this. Every time you start thinking about a heart attack, interrupt the thought with ,"I can do this," "I will do this," Your mind is playing tricks on you. It likes to lie to us. You are not going to give yourself a heart attack. You need to do this for yourself so you can get better and start enjoying life. You are strong enough to do this. You can do it!

In addition to my reply below, remember I told you about Thomas Hall. He has a video for agoraphobia. Maybe listening to it will help you. It's free and looks like it's only 11 minutes long. Give it a try. youtube.com/watch?v=HnAChtj...

Hang in there. Maybe they can try a Skype visit next time or find a different doctor who will do that for you to get you started with therapy in the comfort of your home. Keep us posted.

It was a Skype chat but my social anxiety is so bad

Zazzel in reply to apayett24

Ah, ok, I think I understand. Are you fearful of seeing the therapist on Skype or actually the talking part or both? You do a great job communicating with all of us here on the forum, perhaps you could write to the therapist and start to get to know them that way until you build up a little trust enough that you'd feel comfortable speaking with them. Would you feel comfortable writing to them?

Today I feel breathless but I think its bc of this pressure system

Zazzel profile image
Zazzel in reply to apayett24

Might be. could be stress too. Sometimes when I get anxious I feel breathless. My Mom always told me, "If you pass out you will keep breathing, so don't worry." I've never passed out., thank goodness :) Or it could be something you ate that you have a small intolerance to. That can make one breathless as well.

No, it won't kill you. It's just uncomfortable. I'm rooting for you to try again with the therapist. You can do it!

I started seeing a therapist recently, and had horrible anxiety about going. Was the best thing I've done so far. Have a long way to go.

But we'll worth it.

I'm going to try again with the threpist

You can do it...

Nothing wrong with trying again.

Any step forward is good...

Good luck.. always happy to talk
