Anyone every try Neurofeedback? My therapist offers it, but I feel like it may just be pseudoscience. Any chance this can actually help anxiety? Studies seem to be lacking, but I'd love to hear from personal experience.

Based on my own experience I can't say enough good things about neurofeedback. I will however, caution you on who does it. I will only trust a functional doctor who has been trained much differently than a regular conventional doctor.

Thanks for your reply. How many sessions did it take you to notice a difference?

It would be unfair of me to offer any estimate of how many sessions you would need - it strictly depends on what the problem is, where it is, how severe it is, and what treatments need to be done. It's definitely worth calling around and asking questions to gather information.

Make sure you call only a functional doctor who does neurofeedback. Don't be afraid to make a list of questions. Call around and ask to speak with the person who will doing the sessions to give you an idea of the procedure they use to detect the problem and what you can expect during a treatment. Make sure you are 100% comfortable and confident with moving forward. The more information you have will give you that confidence.

If they can't answer your questions, the secretary may not be a very good person at the front desk. Be insistent. Read the doctor's profiles. Familiarize yourself with this type of treatment. Read articles online. But make sure it's from the standpoint of a functional doctor only.

My whole family has had benefit from neurofeedback. It started with my son for anxiety. If I hadn't seen it work on him the way it had, I probably would have been skeptical too. I then gave it a go and have had some encouraging results and another member of my family have tried it with good results also. We hired a system and have skype/telephone consults. It's not the Neuroptimal style of machine, but rather the one where electrodes are placed on the head each time. From my understanding the Neuroptimal one is more general (but still has great results for some). Ours uses the Bioexplorer and Uwiz system. I've been so impressed, I will be investing in buying the system myself down the track and just pay for consults for guidance. I think as the other person said and from my own research, it does seem to help some people and not others. I hope this helps.
