Hi guys ! I was wondering if anyone takes or has taken propranolol for their ectopic heartbeats/pvcs etc? I have been suffering from them for 2 years and they have only gotten worse to the point I now have them constantly. I am on Zoloft and was prescribed propranolol when needed but too anxious to take it. Thank you !

Hiya!

Sorry to hear that you are struggling with the dreaded palpitations again.they are horrible.

I have taken propranolol and found it to be really effective with no side effects at all for me.it stopped my racing heart and definitely lower the skipped beats.

I still get skipped beats and thuds most days but am not on any medication now.if I was going to I would definitely take propranolol again and I’m terrified of meds too!

when you get the skipped beats/thuds do you ever feel breathless for that moment? I have had PVC'S skipped beats since I was 18. I am 66, and still have them. I am on Toprol and it does help. But when my anxiety shoots through the roof, the beats are everyday and frequent. This makes my anxiety worse & I am ready to go to the ER!!!! ugh!!!

Oh yes!and then I panic and race around and hold my breath and make them ten times worse!!

Wow you have had them for a long time!well done!

The more I think about them the more they happen and the cycle goes on.its miserable some days isn’t it!

Sorry you are suffering with pvcs. I know the torture of them all too well. They give me a butterfly like feeling in my stomach like I'm on a roller coaster. Try magnesium supplements. I did a lot of research and I find they really do help. Magnesium is good for your heart and it can have a calming affect. I am taking magnesium citrate. You might want to research it yourself and find the right kind for you. God bless!

I can go days with none and get one out of the blue. Since I started getting them, I've learned that so many people suffer from them. My dad started getting them around my age 40's and he is 75 now.
