Having a very hard time...havi...

Having a very hard time...having that scary heavy feeling. I don’t want to do anything. I can’t break through and lift these feelings. I really could use some words of wisdom.

Take a few slow, deep breaths.

Don't try to break through or lift those scary feelings. Don't engage with them or struggle with them or try to make them go away. Just relax and accept them, float through them and let them be.

A feeling is just a feeling, nothing more. You are in no danger. You are just having some uncomfortable emotions. What's making you feel scared is your own reaction to those emotions. You're struggling with them, trying to push them away. This causes you more fear. Instead, relax and let your entire body go limp. Take a few more slow, deep breaths. Allow yourself to feel whatever it is you're feeling, no matter what.

And remember, you are not alone. I and many, many others are right there with you. We will recover not by trying to chase away anxiety, but by gradually accepting it.

It helped me a lot to read the posts of this user, who has succeeded in recovering from anxiety and now likes to come on here and help the rest of us:

Feeling the same way I just don't want to see anyone lately can't explain there's so much neg news these days it seems you can't live a so called normal life

I don’t know exactly what you experience but when I get a heavy frightening feeling I kind of imagine it as a being of some sort that’s trying to trick me into being scared so I tell it “You can’t hurt me, I’m not scared of you” even if I am scared I tell myself (and it) that I’m not, and the feeling usually goes away after a couple minutes of me saying that to myself.

I been having a very hard time as well i get to the point where I don’t wanna socialize with anyone I don’t eat i panic so much but you gotta tell yourself I’m better than this , this is just a phase take deep breaths if i can get over this crippling anxiety even if it’s little by little baby steps i know you can too ❤️ anyone can because you know why ? You’re such a strong person and you have a purpose ! Get some fresh air walk outside listen to music occupy your thoughts and you’ll find yourself not even thinking about these things that bring you down !
