Wondered what people's experience of pregabalin have been? Suggested as an addition to Venlafaxine for anxiety and depression.

I've been taking pregabalin for several years now. It helped my anxiety enormously & still does. I'm not sure if it would help with depression though, but as depression may be caused by being in a continuous anxious state, it might address it from that point of view.

hi jencan, have you put on lots of weight with pregablin?

I don't think so--though the fact that I feel less anxiety on it does give me more of an appetite, so any weight gain's down to eating more.

I don't mean to be negative and put a dampener on things but ive been taking Pregablin for pain caused through fibromyalgia. Since taking Pregablin (& gabapentlin) my anxiety has got much worse. Over the years I've heard so many stories that have varied hugely with Pregablin, i think the only thing you can do is trial it. It might work, it might not.

Isn't pregablin the drug that they did a documentary on where people are addicted to it ? I could be wrong but Im sure that's what it's called

Have been on it for a few weeks now. Not noticing any difference yet. Had a few triggers and a bit of a meltdown on Wednesday. Asked for help from GP and CPN to get me some sleep on Thursday but told nothing they can give me while on pregablin. Might pref to have some diazepam to take just for emergencies but of course they are not keen on this either. This makes me resort to non prescription drugs as the demons in my head become unbearable. Told to use distraction and relaxation but that does not cut it when in crisis. The very fact that I now know there is nothing I can have when things are really bad heightens my general anxiety. In a really nasty situation re my work where I am hit with accusations made by my former LM. These are entirely fabricated but HR and management are completely taken in. Have been off a year now with no sign of reconciliation and ever increasing possibility of losing my job. Cant cope with the injustice and lows come when I start to believe I must deserve to be treated this way as no one will listen to me and I have gone from employee off with depression who returned and received no support to employee causing distress to her LM by being depressed.

Hi, I've suffered with anxiety for many, many years, and take Doxepin for depression and Diazepam for anxiety, which is ok, but before long I have to really up the dose, which I don't like doing as at some point, I know I have to reduce, which can be horrible if not done correctly. Recently I was prescribed Pregabelin, which I've just started, but I was told by the Psychiatrist that I could take Diazepam with the Pregabelin, so it might be worth asking again, if you're still suffering. I really hope you get things sorted out. It's bad enough suffering from chronic anxiety, without your employers adding to it. You know what they say 'What goes around comes around'. 😏

Hi, I am also on pregablin for over a year. Have you noticed any weight gain?

Yes. I have gained over 6 pounds already. Seeing psychiatrist on Wednesday to discuss my meds. Feeling worthless and a burden to all in my life.
