Fluoxetine -> Sertraline

Slowly weining off of fluoxetine. How did people find it? I’m getting quite dizzy but other than that it’s not any worse so far. I’ve gone from 40mg to 20mg for the last 5 days. Going to do one every other day soon. Wish me luck.

When my problem changed from depression to anxiety, I was advised to switch from Fluoexitine?prozac to Sertraline. The only discomfort I experienced was a slightly swollen tongue for a week or so. I am stable on 50mg per day now. Earlier this year I upped my Sertraline dose to 200mg to help me cope with a few days which I knew would be stressful. I then dropped back to 50mg, and as a result was ill for several weeks. Evidently reducing a Sertraline dose MUST BE DONE GRADUALLY. What I should have done was to take beta-blockers - propranolol - to cope with the extra stress, and perhaps go up to 100mg. Hope this helps. Of course everyone needs a supportive family and a group of friends, because medication alone is NOT ENOUGH!

Hello, I been on sertraline for 5 yrs now. I only upped my does once. I'm on 50mg a day. Can't take no higher cause I get sick from higher doses. But I like how it helps me. But if I get over stressed it feels like it's not working but it is. I was always told you control the pill don't let it control you. I hope that helps. I don't have any side effects from it. It took me 4 weeks to come off Fluoxetine. I was on 60mg. It caused me to gain weight and I also found losing the weight difficult while taking them. Would like an antidepressant that doesn’t cause weight gain. Like Wellbutrin/Zyban but apparently it’s not prescribed for off label use in the U.K.
