Scared I’m going to die

VP123 profile image

Hello, I feel weird doing this but I’m so scared right now that I find it hard to think about anything else. I was born with a rare heart defect and had been told many times it’s a miracle that I’m still here. The other night I had a dream that and angel told me I was going to die after Thanksgiving so now everything I see or read is like a sign telling me that I’m going to die. I looking for a movie to watch this evening and came upon this movie where God told this man he was going to die soon. So of course this in my mind just reinforced my dream that I’m going to die soon. I am just so scared. I have had episodes of this before to where I’m afraid to fall asleep and stuff like that but those were just feelings I have never had a dream where I was I was being told that I was going to die and when. I’m just so scared.

VP123, I know how frightened you must be but dreams are not what they seem

to be. Dreams are a part of our subconscious mind being active while we are

sleeping. Everything you did or thought about during the day is played over while

you sleep. Some are in the form of a dream. I believe that the Angel who told you that

you would die after Thanksgiving was nothing more than your overwhelming fear

of death itself. I do believe in dreams but not for the negative connotation that we

may think it's telling us but rather as a sign that our worries are focus on that particular issue.

No one knows when it may be their last day. Try to dismiss the coincidence of the Angel

dream and finding a movie tonight where someone was told they were going to die.

Just a coincidence, nothing more, nothing less. You've proven them wrong in continuing to be a miracle. Don't allow a dream take that away from you. Take one day at a time.

You wouldn't believe all the dreams I've had in my lifetime and yet I'm still here.

You are going to be okay. Keep talking with us this coming week and we will help you

through your fears. Keeping you in my thoughts. xx

God love you, I know how scared you are. I’v been in a bad place fearing death constantly lately. I’m convinced I’m going to have a heart attack and day now and I’m really obsessing about it. During my worst times I believe everything is a sign, dreams, adds about life insurance, seeing a funeral etc etc. it’s just our minds playing tricks on us. I really hope you start to feel better soon xxx

Same here! I get emails constantly about life insurance. My mind goes (and is in) overdrive!

Same here. Every thing I come across just sends my fear into overdrive even a sermon at church today. I’m going to have to work through this and take it day by day. Hope things start getting better for you.

I know exactly what you mean and I know I’m just going to have to work through it day by day and just leave it all in the hand of God. Thank you for your response.

Do you have a good cardiologist. If not, I would look for one at a major teaching hospital. Is there no treatment for your condition? There have been many advances in heart procedures in the last few years, as well as advances in surgery. Tell your cardiologist about your fears. Also, consider seeing a psychiatrist or therapist. As Agora1 says, your dream only reflects your fears.

b1b1 b1 I have a great cardiologist thst I see who is from one of leading hospitals on adults with congenital heat defects. I saw him in July and everything is fine. I have had these fears for a long time but I think now that I’m getting older and will be going through life changes like my daughter getting engaged buying a house with her fiancé and will be soon graduating college, my fear has gone into overdrive. It’s just something I’m going to have to work through and just take it day by day. Thank you fir your respons.

VP123, how did you sleep last night? Any better?

We are here for you. xx

Agora1 I did get some sleep last night but woke up again with the same feelings and fear. I know this is going to be a process that I’m going to have to work through, but being able to hear from people like you does make it a little easier. Thank you for your concern. It means a lot.

VP123, It is something you will have to work through, but not alone. I'll walk with you

as you will also have this amazing forum behind you. Let's take this journey together

through Thanksgiving and beyond. When you wake up to those same feelings and fear, tell yourself out loud...."I am safe". Nothing is going to happen to me. This is just a figment of my imagination. Then breathe in peace and calm and exhale the feelings and fear. Do that several times. Do not allow these negative feelings take control.

You are a miracle for a reason. Let that reason live long and prosperous. xx

In your situation I reeky think it would be helpful to have an ongoing relationship with a therapist. It may help just to have another person with whom you can express your fears fully. Also, you are going through some life changes related to your daughter. This can exacerbate existing fears.
