I think it is important to be treated for this condition by a doctor. As far as I know, diet will not make a difference.

Do you have an overactive thyroid?

I had a thyroid problem before. I haven't taken meds lately because it has been at a normal number. It is important that you take the meds. Eating better won't fix it and a lot of side effects can come from not taking your meds to normalize it.

They didn’t give meds

Ok. When the thyroid levels aren't too low or too high enough they don't want to give meds. They did that to me months back. They opted to not give me meds. Just monitor it every six months. But eating better is good for your overall health and can help keep you energized which is important when you have certain anxiety symptoms, but it won't change your thyroid problem.

They were sending me to a specialist but I never made it because of my anxiety for two years my thyroid wasn’t over active I could go places and not have anxiety as bad I even gain the weight back this year it started going over active again I could tell because of my anxiety and how my body feels

You sound like me. That's the same thing they did to me and I also didn't go because it's hard to go to certain places and not have my anxiety act out.

The thyroid levels? I don't know any foods that can change it to be honest. But eating healthy will help you keep off the weight that you gain having the thyroid problem.

I don’t gain weight that’s the problem I lose it to much I have hyperthyroidism I suffer from rapid weight loss rather than rapid weight gain but last year I started gaining weight and feeling better too I can go places and now I’m back at square one. I know food can’t change my thyroid hormone levels but I know that there are things that affect them for instants my sister who has hypothyroidism house to avoid dairy because it dampens the thyroid hormone that is also harmful for me so it’s kind of hard to know what is and isn’t all right to eat even in moderation.

Did you talk to your doctor about what foods you should avoid or maybe a dietician?

My severe Agoura phobia prevents me from leaving my house it’s literally so bad my doctor said I have no quality-of-life and excuse me from jury duty because of it so no I haven’t seen the dietitian in a while but I’ve been looking up studies that say what food I can eat and what I can this will be my first time trying this diet.

That sounds good. Try that diet see how it works for you. I completely understand that you can't go out because of your anxiety. I too was like this a while back. Still gets hard for me at times.

I have Graves Disease. It's a long story, but basically I was on medication for 7 years, they told me I was in remission, I went off my meds, and then three months later I almost died from a thyroid storm. Overactive thyroid is terrifying, and for me, a proper diet didn't help at all. I don't know if you're seeing a doctor, but I HIGHLY recommend you stay on top of your labs and know where your levels are.

Also, I have a panic disorder and at one point I was also agoraphobic. I almost failed out of college and I lost my job because leaving my room was horrifying for me. However, my anxiety has gotten so much better for me since I got my thyroid straightened out. The anxiety is still there, but it is no longer controlling my life like it used to
