Strange feeling of calmness after months of stress

Hello I'm new here and it is a great source of comfort to me to have found this support group.

So I had stress and anxiety for months now and it's intensity started to raise gradually through out this period, and I used to cope with it by smoking marijuana, however a few days ago I had my first panic attack right after I smoked, the doctor diagnosed me with IBS so I stopped smoking marijuana and I expected to feel some withdrawal symptoms which I did for 3 days where I had depersonalization ,depression and extreme paranoia about my health.

But yesterday I started To have this weird feeling like I was going to have an other panic attack and I managed to overcome it by breathing and positive thoughts and suddenly I had this very weird feeling of calmness almost like a meditative state with a noticeable decrease in thought frequency and a sharp decline in irritability and anxiety.

all this happened suddenly which makes me very scared almost to the point of making me think I'm having a serious mental problem.

Can anyone relate to this or should I see a doctor.

PS: the only medication I'm taking are some stomach pills prescribed by my doctor to relieve IBS symptoms along with some vitamins and and a edible gel to release gases trapped in my stomach, also now I smoke only cigarettes and not marijuana.

Yacine, embrace that feeling of calmness as your mind and body adjust in going forward on a different path. A path more smooth. There is nothing to fear. It is a new feeling and so at first your mind will wonder what's wrong, you hadn't been able to feel like that for so long and now it comes more easily as you meditate and deep breathe. That's the key Yacine. You opened the door through mind control and it worked. Now don't fear it, breathe in that peaceful feeling it may not last for long.

I do meditation/deepbreathing several times a day to keep myself in a stable place. When the mind is focused on calm and peace, the body will automatically follow along. You are safe, you are okay. Breathe my friend :) xx

Marijuana is no friend of people with anxiety disorder. Too many here have noticed a connection between smoking reefers and mental issues for it to be coincidence. Let those who don't believe this find out the hard way. Eventually.

You have done well to work this out for yourself and to stop, Yacine. The symptoms that now concern you are most likely withdrawal and will resolve in time.

I used to think it was harmless but I discovered the truth the hard way.

I hope people see this post and take it from someone who experienced it first hand.
