Does anyone take meds and still have bad anxiety? I am afraid to start the meds… Can I have some positive stories or negative… Should I even bother?

I have been dealing with generalized anxiety and panic all of my life. I have been on Paxil for 30 years. It does take the edge off. Please don’t be afraid, just track how you feel and make sure you have a good Dr.

Hi Hidden I'm on medication I'm on venlafaxine

And I'm also on propranalol i do still get anxiety and it gets really difficult sometimes but all i do is ask my Dr to upp my dosage whist until it settles...and it does pass eventually ...the tablets replace the chemical serotonin in our brain which helps to block out the bad thoughts and the anxiety...I've had this for almost 20 years but my medication I've been on and off them but believe me they do really help

Part of having an anxiety dis order, for a lot of us, is the fear of medications. My doc gave me a xanax to take 20 minutes before he wanted me to start taking Lexapro. That worked for me.

We’re you afraid to take the Xanax? And also how’s the lexepro work for tou

Hi,

I’m not on medication now, but I was and it worked brilliantly. I was apprehensive at first, but the changes it brought were excellent. I had barely any anxiety symptoms.

Hope this helps

I just decided that long-term, it was better for me not to take medication.

How are you without it

On the whole I’m doing well. I have had CBT and counselling at three different occasions over the years which has helped too. I sometimes have moments e.g when flying when anxiety rears it’s head but on the whole I’m much better.

Meds scare me sometimes. I’ll google them-which is a no-no for me —then I’ll wait until last time I literally asked myself “what are you so afraid of?” Sometimes they help. Sometimes not. The only way you know is to try:).

Yes, I am on Paxil, Clonapine, Clonadine and Prestique. Still having panic attacks and lots of anxiety. It would be worse without the meds though. I am trying to do projects I.e., going into stores, drive with someone else in car for support, going for walks etc.
