Has anyone read that book DARE? I am trying to decide whether to buy it or a Claire Weeks book. Which do you think is better if you have read both?

I have not read DARE which is highly spoken of and I understand is based on the method of Claire Weekes, I have read and reread all her books over the past 40 years.

Why not read them both, Weekes' first book SELF HELP WITH YOUR NERVES/HOPE AND HELP WITH YOUR NERVES is quite short.

You can buy them used at Amazon for just a few £$.

Thanks Jeff1934. I just might do that. I have read many of your posts talking about Claire Weeks. But I haven’t heard much about DARE. I’m gonna look on amazon and check them out.

they are both AMAZING! mental health through will training by dr. abraham low has been in my family since my great grandparents, and my great grandma was actually able to help over 1000 people in her small town just by the knowledge from that book. self help books are amazing if you actually apply them to your life. i suggest all three of these!

What’s the name of the one by Dr Abraham Low?

I have both, Glendajean. And I like both for different reasons, but the message is the same. Dare is based very much on Claire Weeke's principal of acceptance. There is a free Dare app. available too for your phone on the Dare website, if you fancy a 'taster'. Some very good guided breathing techniques, and an excellent 'talk through' for panic attacks too. xxxx

Thank you Tempestteapot. I really appreciate that info. I’m gonna go check that out right now!!!

I have and can honestly say it was the best thing i ever did. Instead of ruminating over every little sensation and feeding the anxiety / fighting the anxiety it teaches you to be more accepting and allow it.... and once you do it just dissipates. I've been recovered now for around 2 years after having suffered with anxiety and panic attacked for 11 years. The facebook support group is amazing too as it really inspires you to keep doing the DARE steps and it is full of people that are recovered or well on their way to recovery. I had the audiobook and kindle version. I listened to the audio whilst driving to help it stick in my head. Really worth getting 😊

I read both books and I really like Claire weekes books. Whenever I have a weak moment, I grab the book and reread parts of it. The Dare book was good also, but I really think the weekes books are the gold standard

Thanks. That’s the one I ordered!!
