Update on the constant headaches health anxiety causing problems with what I'm seeing?

Along with the headaches my eyes have begun playing up. When I'm staring straight ahead I can see sparkles and stars, or blurred lines. I've recently been prescribed glasses for reading and concentrating but when I'm not wearing them I can see all this other stuff. I had a complete meltdown on the way to work this morning. Anyone know what this is? I'm so convinced it's something serious

Yes me too! I know what you mean! I had such a bad time this morning I almost fully lost it while walking to work thinking I had a brain tumour and my eyes getting worse, I thought I'd gone crazy too

i'm glad i'm not alone in this. i just can't seem to shake it today. has anyone been there where the anxiety lasts all day?

Yes actually! Everything you are both feeling is classic anxiety signs. However if either of you are nearsighted (meaning you can see up close but need glasses to see far away) then the sparkles and stars are such are even more normal. I myself have these issues. But no it is not a brain tumor. It is just your eyes doing what anxiety does to them. The sparkles and stuff (especially the blurred lines) are called floaters as well. When you are stressed out or even just randomly with anxiety you can see these things. Not a tumor or anything. The only thing you can do is try to ignore it and your body will naturally "filter it out" because thats what it normally does anyway. The only reason why we can see them more often than usual is because anxiety makes it happen more and more. So yeah, you guys are going crazy and do not have brain tumors. Its all just your anxiety :)

OH and the thing about it only being in one eye is also normal. We all have 1 eye that is dominate. So eyes are always the same. like I get that stuff in my left eye more than my right eye. Kinda weird but its all ok

it's always my left eye. i'll be watching tv and all of a sudden my left eye goes blurry so i figure i'm going blind or something LOL!!!!

Nope! That could be many things. Tho if you are still worried about it then you may wanna go to the eye doctor. But more often than not its all good.

i've been to eye doctors other than needing glasses i'm good to go. what other symptoms do yo get?

I actually have really bad floaters so when I see stuff out of the corners of my eyes i automatically assume "Crap I have schizophrenia" or "Ok one more thing to check off on my list of psychotic symptoms" even tho I do not have schizophrenia and the things I see are a product of my anxiety and crappy eye sight. But oh well. I also get a weird spot in my left eye that I can only see when I blink. When that spot shows up thats how I know i am about to get a tiny migraine. I've been to the doctor about it and she said that its nothing really to worry about

do you have other anxiety symptoms besides your eyes?

fib4 profile image
fib4 in reply to plushiesaremyjam

i have that on occasion. i think the worst is waking up in the night with anxiety and laying there thinking about it. it really freaks me out big time you imagine all kinds of things even dying

plushiesaremyjam profile image
plushiesaremyjam in reply to fib4

Thats for sure. Once I woke up from a bad dream and I thought I was dying

and the worst part of the night thing is there is no one to talk to at those hours mine usually happen around 2 in the morning and i don't think anyone is on line at that time

I am still in denial that it's anxiety, i continue to look for physical explanations. My neck always seems sore too... who knows.

hypochondria is another tough one. you think you have everything in the book. it's really your mind playing tricks on you. if you're really concerned about something you can always check with your doc but 9 times out of 10 it's nothing

in reply to fib4

My doc doesn't want to see me again for a while lol

I have migraines and get an aura with these kinds of vision issues. They say you can get the aura without the pain of the headache. I wish you well 💛

in reply to Chubbers

My headaches went away, but I get the eye strains... like it's hard to focus going from one view to another.
