Scared, chest pain

Hi, i'm new here

For the last 3 months i have been suffering from chest pain and acid in stomach. I was sent to the hospital to do an ecg a chest xray and some blood tests and everything came normal. I also went to a cardiologist who did an ecg and an echo cardiogram and mentioned that a heart attack and angina are unlikely to occur. All results came normal again as regards to the latter. The chest pains still persist and i'm really afraid that it could be angina or heart attack. The pains do not spread to other places but i do feel pain in the arm, jaw, and neck sometimes.

I also went to different GP's during these 3 months and all related this to stress since i was doing my thesis and currently going with exams. On friday i'm going to a gastrologist to see if this could be a symptom of acid reflux.

Should i be worried?

Thanks

Hi karlbezz. This was me months back. I too have had all those test done including a 24 hour holster monitor. And you know what ? Hearing that everything was normal every single time, I no longer get those pains and that awareness of my own heartbeat. I do get throat flutters alot but that chest pain stopped so I truly believe it was anxiety. It mimics so many illnesses. I also have Acid reflux and when I get Gas I feel it on my left side. But I'm currently taking medication for it which gives me relieve.

HI Swan0101, that does give me some relief. The symptoms are so scary and it seems like there is nothing i can do about it rather than just not think about it .. easier said than done

Yes it is. But as time goes you will learn to ignore them and convince yourself that anxiety is trying to mess with you

Acid Reflux maybe the culprit. Don't worry if you have been tested and results are all cleared it's all the anxiety makes you think that there is something wrong. The connection between acid reflux and anxiety is obscured by it’s various causes and psychosomatic connection. The two can play off each other. Stress and other psychological traits of anxiety can increase acid reflux symptoms and acid reflux symptoms can cause anxiety to increase.

Hi, an update from my part .. i am currently still feeling chest pain. I don't know if it's my anxiety putting this pain but it's not really severe but is making me feel a bit afraid. I didn't go to any clinics or stuff since i was told that there's nothing wrong with my heart previously and i don't want to be referred to a psychiatrist when i go so i thought i'd stay here and stay up a bit late so if symptoms get worst i'll go to the hospital

Relax and try deep breaths exercise. Since you said there is no problem regarding heart, those chest pains are mostly happening by a trapped fear in your brain. Since you are in a fear mode your body switched on the fight or flight response. They are all causing adrenaline surges all over time and they are making your chest very sore/tension.

wow that actually does make sense .. and since i'm seeing a gastrologist on friday i'm seeing the days to be quite long and have no motivation whatsoever to study

Hi, my chest pains are getting much better since i was given anti inflammatory pills by my gastrologists. My arm and jaw pain are still occuring at all times and scared that this may be angina. Could angina occur without chest pain? I'm really scared and this pain is really interrupting my everyday life.
