Amytat, the two words "what if" can cause our thoughts to go south within moments. That thought needs to be stopped before it has time to blossom into anxiety. There is nothing we can do to prevent "dying". When it's time, it's time. Staying awake, thinking about it constantly is not allowing you to live your life. The preoccupation of death is taking over living. Talking to a therapist to address the root of this thought may well be worth while. You certainly aren't alone in this fear. xx

They won’t come true, this is what anxiety does. You must go to your Dr and explain how you feel and get some support.

Don’t ignore it as it will escalate, I ended up being agoraphobic and my anxiety ruined my life in my twenties.

I eventually learnt to control it but you must get help.

Ask your dr to check your cortisol levels.

My doctor can only give me anideppresants. I try to do by myself.

Can you tell me more about you?how did you control it.

I don't know if they check cortisol levels how to do that?

Best way to check cortisol levels is by a saliva test but dr more likely to do a blood test which is less accurate. I would ask to be referred to an endocrinologist who can check out all your hormone levels.

You must get your thyroid checked too, I was misdiagnosed for decades and anxiety ruined my life in my twenties and it was down to thyroid disease.

I was left on antidepressants for years and did not need them. They help temporarily but are not the answer, you need to find the root cause of your anxiety which may be emotional or physical.

Insist on blood tests and on seeing an endocrinologist.

Any blood test results are yours, get a copy and post on here or the thyroid uk part of this site as so many people there can help with blood results.

Nutritionalist can also be a great help too.

I have done blood tests more than 10 times. They say hormons are ok. It's just my thoughts are really bad about dying. Not really physically in pain or anxiety attacks but just thoughts that seem so real and convincing

Get a copy of your results and post on here. There level ranges are so broad and will say ok when they are not. Especially with thyroid tests.

Have they checked thyroid?

How did you get over this shit?

Did you have a fear about dying ?

Katepots profile image
Katepots in reply to Amytat

Constantly!

Relaxation techniques, yoga, help group and making like a check list of things to achieve in the day(very small things) but by then I was agoraphobic. Don’t expect too much too soon, little steps.

Ashwaghanda can help anxiety.

What part of the country are you? I’ll look up groups.

I found a support group which helped massively, they taught us relaxation techniques. I also went to yoga. Every time I felt anxiety coming on I would try and use up the excess adrenalin(which is what causes the panic and horrible feelings) by running or doing vigorous activity. Staying still and concentrating on the feelings you are getting just will make it worse.

I really feel you should ask to be given counselling sessions. It’s gone on too long and just giving you antidepressants is a real cop out from your GP. If they are not helpful switch to a different one.

That is a really good post and describes it so well. I used to carry around a picture of somewhere that made me feel relaxed, (ramshackle Farm in the country) it can be any picture cut out of a magazine. Keep looking at it and imagine you are there. When the panic then was coming on I would get out the picture, look at it and imagine I was there. This technique can work well. In the end you know the picture so well in your mind that you can just go there anyway.

Thoughts can have a powerful effect on our bodies - especially negative ones. Thoughts are just thoughts - they can’t make something happen or not happen. Saying “ I’m going to win the lottery tomorrow” will not make it happen. Have you tried CBT? It’s excellent for anxiety disorders, but you need to really work at challenging your thoughts with the help of the the therapist.

Thank you so much. Your are spot on but it's weird. When I feel weird feelings I feel like ok death is here

The feelings you experience is the adrenaline response due to your anxiety/thoughts. Although these feelings are unpleasant, they are not harmful and eventually pass. I do really recommend regular relaxation techniques and trying to challenge your negative thoughts. It’s hard I know, but it really helps. There is a good self help website called Centre for Clinical Interventions - they have excellent online workbooks on all types of anxiety disorders. It helped me in the past.

Hey what if these thoughts are FALSE and you have a long life ahead. Our times are in God's hands !

Please pray.

The BIBLE in Philippians 4:6-7 says:

6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.

7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Present your requests for removal of these thoughts and fears to God. He is real and He will answer. We are obligated to ask and to receive.

On the other side, please take medical tests as per your doctor's direction. Once illnesses are ruled out, you can experience atleast a scientific relaxation in thoughts.

Don't worry. It'll be okay. God is good.

The fact is "dying" is the subject your anxious mind has fallen into!

It could have been anything..infection control/ social anxiet/OCD...etc..etc.😃

Deal with the real cause...that is you are suffering from overthinking and an exhausted mind leading to anxious negative thinking....

You need to rest your mind, spend time in nature/ walk and find wonder in life...(with the help of meds when required)

Take care and keep it simple

I had my first redbull, and after drinking it, my body statted to shake and I felt super hyper. I searched up the reasons behind this feeling, and it was called caffeine overdose or something like that. I decided to read if it was dangerous, and apparently, it had a lot of bad symptoms. People also had a heart attack due to caffeine overdoses, and so bam, my first panic attack ever. Keep in mind that during my whole life, I've never been afraid of dying due to health issues at an early age. After that day, this fear of death kept on with me and masked itself in many forms. I never knew why i felt anxiety, but apparently, it was because I was afraid of dying. Then I made the mistake and searched up ALS symptoms, and bam, what I never feared before started to bother me. My ALS fear is almost gone, but it's still lurking there and I can still feel it. Question yourself, what's going to kill you? If you have no reason to die, then how will you die? Either way, strip the power away from your thoughts and stop obssessing over death. You have no control over it, so just live.
