Scared of pregnancy!!

I posted a little while back about my fear of having a baby. Me and my boyfriend are close to the point that we’ve been together for a while and are starting to talk about a baby. I would love one but I am so scared. I have a huge fear or how my body will change, I have googled so many things in the past about women getting seizures from being pregnant (this is a HUGE fear of mine) and I’m at the point where it’s holding me back from doing having one...which is crazy in my eyes. How can I get over this! Whenever I think about what ‘could’ happen after I’ve had the baby it makes me feel really uneasy

Instead of googling why don't you ask parents about it, people who have done it.

Google is the worst thing you can ask!

I’m currently 37w pregnant and besides feeling sick on first trimester ~ it’s gone quick and enjoyed it. Everyone is different though but I guess just have to balance out what ifs and regrets. Perhaps you could call a professional. Tommy’s charity is good. Ultimately only you can make the choice that’s right for you.

As Jimmy says, ask other parents and also ask you gynecologist. I have never heard of seizures during pregnancy. My own pregnancy was completely normal and I felt 100% well and energetic the whole time.

Nope. You are mixing eclampsia with a normal pregnancy. Just maintain a good antenatal checkup routine after you miss your periods (and confirm your pregnancy) to its end. You won’t ever get seizures. Trust me.

really? I don’t know why I have this fear of it. But thanks for that comment. It has put my mind at ease slightly. I am just thinking of the worst thing that could happen and my anxiety is focusing on it

Wow I am the same way! My fiancé and I are engaged and to be married next May. We are buying a house etc and I just turned 30 and I really feel the whole having a baby thing coming sooner than later. I’m more afraid of the pain of labor and giving birth, I’m terrified. Also I’m afraid of being sick all the time in the beginning when I have to work. I also worry about my job discriminating against me if I start having babies and have to be out for 6 weeks. I know I’m nuts and there are laws and my boss values my work. I guess my point is your not alone in those fears! I would suggest thinking if you had no fear what would you do? If it would be to have a baby and you and your husband feel ready then by all means start trying. The thing is, no one is safe from all risks, antrhing could happen but unless you have health issues I don’t see you having seizures but hey I’m no expert by any means. Your Gyno would probably be able to answer those questions much better than me. People say it’s the best thing that ever happened to them, having a child so I think once you do it you’ll see that and a lot of your fears didn’t come true. Good luck to you!
