Anxiety and sleep.

My anxiety and 24/7 dizziness is starting to affect my sleep.

Some nights I sleep for 10 hours straight without waking up, but then some night's are worse.

I try to fall asleep but then wake up having horrible dreams and my heart is racing. And then when I do manage to sleep, it's only for 5 hours.

Has anyone else survived on 5 hours sleep?

I'm exhausted as it is because of my anxiety, but having little sleep on top is just too much.

Wow. Just knowing your getting "only five hours" even on a bad day. I barely get that on one of my good days. I have been struggling to sleep for so long. I cant even remember the last time I've had 8 or 10 hours of sleep. Probably when I didnt fear death and had this anxiety which is almost3 years now. I can agree that lack of sleep is definitely mentally exhausting and I think is making me worse mentally and physically.

But I wish us the best.

I assume you have health anxiety as well ans fear dying of a disease? Same boat, but I'm getting much better and am not that scared anymore. Negative thoughts still come to mind, but I'm going to start using positive ones to combat them.

Well i have had times of not being that scared either but i guess when i allow my negative thoughts get the best of me, I do atrach my emotions to it. Then I just find myself in tunnel vision again and feel like its the end.

Ya, it's honestly dumb. I'm still going through it, but I think it's here because it's only been like a week since my fear started. When my fear started, it was very debilitating. 4 days straight of researching about ALS and doing nonstop tests on my body to ensure I didn't have it. It was scary, and thoughts of having ALS still come in mind, but they don't really trigger my anxiety as much anymore. They only trigger the thought in my mind that says, "get the hell out of my brain, annoying thought".

Lack of sleep is sooooo draining for the last 3 months i think I’ve had 2 nights where I’ve slept more than 9hours. On average I get between 3&5 every night and now it’s just a way of life for me even if I sleep more than that it’s broken sleep which I think is so much worse. I constantly dizzy but the tablets I’ve been given are a saving grace.

Which tablets are you on?

Sorry for the late reply they are prochlorperazine they stop the dizziness just like that they are amazing as for the sleep I try not to but I found that antihistamines are good I know it sounds silly but they do work lol

I've been given cinnazarine to try but it lowers blood pressure and I already suffer from low bp so I'm scared to take it.

I was prescribed that! It’s classed as an antihistamine but I’m exactly same my bp is low all the time so I always feel dizzy! But I didn’t think that worked for long only the first 2-3 weeks and when I was taking it I kept keeping check on my bp from home if it dropped to low I’d stop taking it for a couple of days and my gp said if it does drop to low while taking the tablets you have to eat things that boost the bp like salt

Did you find they worked?

I try to eat more salt but it doesn't really help. Because I've been feeling like this for so long my anxiety had made me scared I'm go in to faint. Hopefully at my balance appointment I will get a proper diagnosis.

I didn’t like using them I found the prochlorperazine worked and still does I only take it as and when I need it I probs shouldn’t do that but it works for me that way 👍🏻!

Hello Lucie, n yes, I've got by on 5 hours n less. Best i think to go to bed at a regular time and get up at the same time each day. Try to create a Sleep pattern and maintain it. The online sleep hypnosis by Jason Stephenson n Michael Sealy are very soothing and help you to Sleep soundly. Also, turn off Screens an hour before sleep as phone/computer screen blue lights are stimulating. And eating Bananas and drinking warm Milk before bed help as they contain an ingredient that encourages sleep. Good luck. 😊🌻✌️

hi, I have problems with sleep, at the most I get 3 to 4 hours, sometimes I don't sleep at all. so yes you can survive on less sleep but it is very soul destroying being the nights are so long and during this time the anxiety becomes worse . have you seen your doctor, it is better to try and get help has soon as you can. take care x

So Sorry to hear this! I have had severe anxiety and terrible dreams for years. First , you are not alone. I don't know if you are getting traditional therapy and meds and if you are that is fine. I had to go beyond all that. I am working with 'Energy Medicine' EFT Tapping...google Brad Yates for Worry and Fear. Also maybe Reiki would be could for you. There is a new wave of thought and ideas on treatment that are not so traditional. Also google Energy Medicine. Find someone or a counselor who practices this type of TX . If you haven't already tried that is
