Worried...

Hello! Does anyone else worry about bad things happening whilst out? I’ll worry something bad is going to happen for example when going on a plane or to a concert. How do you deal with these feelings? I feel like I can’t relax as I’m constantly looking around and thinking the worst

I do too Sunshine. I always look for exits n plan an escape route. Just in case. After I've done that though, i forget it and enjoy the outing. I am quite a n old bird now n have taught myself to worry, less. There is only so much any of can do to stay safe. 😊🌻✌️

Yep, all the time. I don’t think I deal with it. I just keep moving and hoping fot the best. I’m not a believer, so I just keep thinking of the odds for and against that happening and if there’s something I can do about it. Often there’s nothing to do so I kind of accept that life is what it is. Sorry if this is not helpful but it summarises my experience with anxiety and sense of impending doom. We have these strange idealistic ideas that life is supposed to be good and bad things are not right. That’s wishful thinking. Life is about experiences. We have to embrace them and learn from them. Easier said than done but true nevertheless. Big 🤗

I think about negative things while out too, like car crashes and stuff but when I think about it I try my best to push those thoughts out of my head and concentrate on what's around you. If that makes sense :P

worry does much harm and offers little aid; when an intrusive thought enters into the brain you don't have to entertain it.

Sure don't, let it pop in, acknowledge it, then pop it out. You are mindful that it was there, but sending it packing is within your control.

The best thing you could do is acknowledge that you worry, then ask yourself why? Has anything bad ever happened to you while you were out? Or to a loved one? Being mindful that you worry is great, learning the way can help it stop.

But I do this too. It's because my peripheral vision on my left side plays tricks on me. I will see something until I get close, then it disappears. I have hurt myself because of this many times now. But because I know about it, I was able to do something about it. I got Mr. Pants (my service pup in training) he not only hands crowd control but stays on my left so I can't get hurt anymore.

Hello sunshine, firstly we all have negative thoughts. Negative thoughts help us protect ourselves from danger and help us live a safer life. These thoughts help us plan for the future to ensure life us a bit easier (take an umbrella if it looks like rain, making sure we have food to eat in the fridge and we have paid the electricity bill) . Sometimes they can get too active and pop up too frequently . If you try to just accept them, perhaps say to yourself "that's one of them thoughts" rather than do battle with them, they can get a bit smaller and perhaps less frequent . This is a mindful approach, I think, .. noting and accepting the thought as it passes, like a cloud floating by. They might come, but they also go. Hope this helps.
