Vision Problems!!!

Anyone else seeing like floating dots sometimes??? could this be from anxiety? I recently went in for a eye exam and was told that i have good eye health so i’m wondering is this part of anxiety. I also feel dizzy, walk off balance and have a heavy head feeling. i wear glasses (new prescription) for nearsightedness so maybe they’re not the right prescription or too strong that’s causing this, anyone experienced this.

Hummmm. What do you think? Did these symptoms start imediately after getting your new eyeglasses? If so, perhaps you should contact that Doctor. If that's not the problem, perhaps you may need to check with an ENT to see if you have inner ear issues. Being seasick on dry land is no fun and wipes out the ability to drive a car. Hope the cause turns out to minor and easily corrected. :)

I'm not sure about the dizziness. It may be that your new glasses are too strong. But I have had "floaters" in my field of vision my entire life. I have read that they are nothing to be concerned about. They don't affect my vision - they're just there.

Ok thanks, i’m completely confused but ill probably make another eye appointment and see if the eyeglasses are the problem or not.

dark sunglasses mask seeing them for me. I have had them as long as I can remember. They are obvious when looking at white pages, or the sky.

Some are dots, some squiggly black threads, some look like aliens. they come and go. I heard it has something to do with nutrition too. Who knows????

I’ve always known about floaters and I think if 90% of people stare up at the sky and really focus everyone has them to some degree. Their harmless most the of time.

However....

I had a really bad night of anxiety a few months ago which resulted in me getting no sleep at all one night. The next day, I had suddenly had a big cluster of black, squiggly floaters in my left eye which definetly weren’t there before.

I can’t decide whether the actual anxiety/stress created them or the strain/pressure from lack of sleep. Possibly both.

I also get ear pressure along with spaciness which has lingered the past 4 months since I had that bad night.

could be silent migraine

could be an underlying B12 or folate deficiency

symptoms of B12 deficiency here

pernicious-anaemia-society....

symptoms of folate are similiar as the body uses the two together for a lot of processes

If it sounds likely then suggest you take a look at the PAS forum

Hello Amarie, to alley your fears I have just had my eyes tested. On occasions I to get floaters, my optician told me there is nothing to worry about unless they last for over 5 minutes, mine are over within a minute. Anxiety causes all sorts, I am also, under the local hospital for suspected glaucoma so I know they would have found something as I had scans, please try not to worry, they usually go as quickly as they came 😊😊

Thank you! I believe anxiety is causing me so many different symptoms its hard to keep count but they usually leave when i relax my mind and don’t allow my anxiety to take over. So i’m trying deep breathing and trying to keep my mind in a positive place. I use to get tremors as well.

This is totally me, I get constant little floaters and tremors. It's so frustrating. I am convinced there is something more serious going on in my brain. I really hope there isn't. My doctors say everything is fine.

After my first panic attack I had all types of imagined health problems, saw all types of medical professionals. Once I got familiar with anxiety & it’s symptoms the fear lessened. I highly recommend a book :

“At last a life “ by Paul David in the UK

Find it & order it, it is a life saver for anxiety & panic sufferers !!!!

Amarie, these floating dots sound like floaters and as your eyes have been examined and you've been told all is well with your eyes then there is absolutely nothing to worry about. Near sighted people tend to notice them more, they are just bits of eye detrius that are floating around in the liquid in the middle of the eye. Can't really see how new glasses would make you notice them more. Just accept them and don't stress about them and they will cease to trouble you.

Thank you and i’ve noticed them before the glasses but i also think i’m on my phone a lot more so the light is causing problems too so ill have to cut back on phone time.

Don't see how your phone is going to create floaters I have to say, sometimes we can have a sudden release of debris (floaters) in the eyes that causes a noticeable increase of floaters but nothing sinister and then over a period of a few months they can settle down and disappear completely, I've experienced that in the past.

Thinking about it we're all saying floaters but it could just be anxiety causing these dots in which case nothing would show up in an eye exam. Either way, whether floaters or anxiety they are not serious and the right thing to do is to accept them calmly without fearing them.

Hello Amarie, vision floaters are very common and you more than likely had them before you were even aware of them. Anxiety makes us hypervigilant about any body symptom, blow it out of proportion and assume the worst. The anxiety cycle is perpetuated because of your sudden awareness of the floaters and then your fear and continued hypervigilance about them. Your fearful thoughts feed the anxiety. Your body is activated when you are hypervigilant and the increase in adrenaline can make you feel light headed or even dizzy, nauseous, etc... It's also common to have anxiety disorder and have it manifest as more than one clinical anxiety disorder, like for instance, social anxiety and health anxiety. It's the same maladaptive behavior that causes the anxiety. Recovery starts when you learn to accept and not believe the thoughts and feelings.
