Hi. Has anyone had CBT?? If so could you give me some advice about it? I feel like I need it as I'm wanting to go on holiday with my boyfriend and friends this year but the anxiety is stopping me..

Does anyone know of any CBT therapies in Liverpool?

Hi I waited 5 months for CBT treatment in Milton Keynes.but it was so worth the wait ,the NHS have a scheme called IAP and you can self refer or your doctor can refer you.it is very good they show you how your mind controls your body for example you are worried about going out to a party.so you start working about this party and then you start getting headaches or stomachs aches start feeling sick, can't sleep can't eat.then you start thinking why do I feel like this and so the anxiety builds up and up.they then say why are you worried about party ? You might say I have social phobia. They say what's the worst that can happen ? You say my heart will start racing or I may faint etc.they teach you to face your fears as fearing what might happen is always worse than what will happen.if you see what I mean ? Anyway they teach you to manage your anxiety and how to keep it at a manageable level.hope this helps you understand it better.

Thank you that's really helpful! How long did you do the CBT for? And are you relieved of anxiety now?

Hi had about 20 weeks as my anxiety was very bad it was affecting my life.couldn't eat ,sleep etc.felt anxious day and night.yes my anxiety is so much better,I have my life back,I still get odd days where I feel a bit anxious.but it doesn't stop me doing things I still go to work I still go shopping etc.because I have learnt to no longer fear the symptoms if I have a bad day.you will find CBT so helpful.

I self referred myself with steps2change, it didn’t take me long to start an online cbt due to how severe my panic disorder is. I got upto step 6 which is starting the exposure therapy, but sadly cbt just wasn’t helping me. It helped me understand my anxiety, and what i was feeling and some coping techniques but that was all. So now im about to start one to one sessions so they can help me with my anxiety better.

However, cbt may help you! Everyone is different, so i would look online for self referrals or talk to your gp about it. Hope it helps you!
