Hey guys, it’s been a while since I’ve posted on here because I’ve been doing well with my anxiety. But recently I had stopped drinking (alcohol) for a two-three weeks and today (Valentine’s Day) I drank three beers which kinda got me tipsy. I came home and just drank water and unwinded a bit listening to music and playing some Xbox. It’s almost time to pass out and I notice my heart kinda beating a bit fast, and knowing how is anxiety sufferers are, paying attention to it could make it speed up a bit since you’re freaking out & that’s pretty much how I feel right now.

I hate this, it’s like we trigger ourselves into panic attacks then can’t do anything to get out of it in the moment. Anything will help advice wise

Thank you, and has any of you felt this way before ?

I get constant heart palpitations - can always feel it beating and can feel it racing. It’s super hard to not notice it. So just try and keep yourself busy, and do some relaxation techniques. The alcohol most likely triggered the panic attack, so i would probably suggest just drinking water as well as alcohol so it doesn’t effect you as much?

Thank you so much for responding !

I ended up panicking myself to sleep sadly lol so I guess that’s good but when or if that happens again hopefully I’ll be better prepared to deal with the situation

No problem! But yeah it’s probably better to experience it then you know what will happen and you can tell yourself that you aren’t in danger etc. Hope you are feeling better :)

This happens to me a lot. Even if I have just a single beer/ wine. Sometimes only a few sips. I try to think about something that I want to do. Usually for me it has all been involving houses lately so for example I start thinking about paint colors or what carpet I want to use.. so on and so forth. But I find when you start thinking about something you look forward to you kind of forget about paying attention to the symptoms you’re having because one thing you think of leads to another to get your mind off of it. You could also get a cat (if you don’t have one) they are supposed to be very helpful to people with anxiety. I call my cat over when I’m not feeling well and it’s usually successful. Reading this site is also one of the most helpful things because you know you’re not the only one who is going through it . Best of luck!
