Hi miamia123, Welcome to the Anxiety Support Forum. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at the number of ways anxiety can be conquered. For myself, I use the book written by Dr. Claire Weekes, "Hope & Help for Your Nerves". It lays the foundation for Anxiety by using Acceptance of the disorder in not being harmful. Anxiety comes from negative thoughts of the mind that end up giving us physical sensations. Even though we are experiencing the symptoms as a physical manifestation it is NOT a physical issue.

With accepting anxiety as it comes along as not harmful, we can allow it to float by us and continue on with what we are doing at the time. I also use Meditation and DeepBreathing that allows me to keep a peaceful calm internal feeling throughout the day and evening. It is a learned practice that can help keep that even calm within the Mind and Body.

Others will share their experiences. It's a wonderful close group of men and women who really care and understand. Feel safe to share and join in at any time. xx

Hi Miamia123,

Thanks for touching base with us in your forum.

There is a concept called "anxiety toolbox" which is a great help. The idea is based on a tradesman's toolbox which contains lots of useful things to help the tradie do their job.

Building your anxiety tool-box is a long process where you learn to deal with, and come up with tools to help you alleviate your anxiety.

You can put the book recommended by Agora1 into your toolbox. A lot of sufferers have mentioned this previously.

I have a link to a useful video as another item

youtube.com/watch?v=RBGSIrV...

If you search "anxiety toolkit" you will come up with lots of ideas and suggestions. There is no one size fits all approach. Try as many as you want then put them to use.

Wishing you all the best in 2018 :)

Hi I have a post on what helps me cope. First if I were you I would make sure it's nothing health related especially your thyroid. Thyroid issues cause anxiety symptoms as well as anxiety itself. I just found out I have a hyper thyroid which is being treated. Caffeine triggers anxiety as well so I cut that out. Try not to watch the news since it brings on lots of unnecessary anxiety. Basically try tackling one thing at a time. Start a journal and write down what triggers your anxiety. Also write down things you are grateful for. Hope that helps!!

You can try drinking chamomile tea or taking valerian root which calms you down and helps you sleep well

Miamia, I second what Agora1 has written, the book by Claire Weekes titled 'Hope and help for your nerves' in the U.S. and titled 'Self help for your nerves' in the U.K. have helped untold thousands to first understand and then recover from anxiety in all its forms. It's available from Amazon new or used for just a few $£. There are 600 reader reviews for this book on amazon.com and amazon.co.uk and 90% of the reviews rated the Acceptance method it advocates as either Very Good or Excellent and the phrase 'saved my life' crops up regularly in the reviews.

You have also been given good advice worth studying by others who have replied to you here. Specially the recommendation to get your thyroid gland checked out first. You will not feel the way you do for ever, promise. But you must take control of your own recovery, doing nothing and expecting it to go away is not an option.

As someone wrote on this forum: Everything will be alright in the end - and if it isn't alright then it's not the end.
