New symptom 😥

Hello all, I hope you’re all having a fantastic day and are well 🙂

Lately I’ve been experiencing a new symptom - mood swings - they’re not pleasant to go through, especially for the people around me, mainly my boyfriend who takes the brunt of it. I find myself getting days where I am feeling really low and then other days I’ll be really happy, the worst one though is when I go through an angry phase where I become verbally abusive and flip out over the smallest of things 😞 luckily I’m not physically abusive but that does not make it right in any way. I feel like I’m pushing my boyfriend away slowly because I can say some really horrible things to him. I want to stop these mood swings before they get even more out of control because I don’t want to keep hurting those I love anymore. I don’t know if it’s the stress of work, Christmas and moving house in the new year that’s making me like this but I need to stop! Does anyone else go through this and if so, how do you keep it under control?

Thank you!

Chloe 🙂

Hello Skeeble, thank you for your reply 🙂 you’re right, it isn’t nice, I can cope with the other symptoms that affect me personally, if anything this one is probably one of the worst ones I’ve had purely for the fact that it’s hurting other people instead 😞 xxx

Hello hun x the reason I ask your age is because my daughter just recently was going through the same as you and she had been going to doctors and they have her anti depressants x they didn't help but made her feel like a zombi x so the doctor put her in the birth control pill to try x and they are working good x anxiety not as bad x not loosing her cool x keeping calm x so perhaps thats an opton in asking doctor if your in that age group x good luck hun x

susannaylor, sorry I completely went past the bit with you asking my age, I got a bit ahead of myself 🙂 I’ve recently turned 24. Yes I think it’s worth me asking my doctor for alternatives to the antidepressants, they definitely make you feel like a zombie. I’m limited to the birth control I can be on because I suffer migraines and I have polycystic ovaries so I’ll have to weigh those up 🙂 thank you for the suggestions I really appreciate it 🙂 I hope you’re well! X

Have you discussed this with your doctor? I agree hormonal may be a problem. Also the first thing that struck me is bipolar. I could of course be way off base. My sister is manic depressive and bipolar. It’s basically the same thing. High highs and low lows. Sometimes our low will cause anger. My anxiety definitely manifests as anger. I just try not to allow it to come out. My sister on the other hand if she is angry everyone knows it! Have you ever thought about anger management as well? It seems that there is something you are angry about. Stress can definitely cause it. Talk to your doctor. They can even do blood tests to check your hormones. I hope you find some relief.

Hello Hopeful-Tinkerbell,

Thank you for your response 🙂 I have looked into different reasons why and different mental issues other than anxiety and that has come up a couple of times. I have a doctors appointment booked for 2 weeks time so fingers crossed I get some clarity. I am thinking of anger management to help with it. I just hate how badly it makes me treat people, it’s not fair on them and it’s not their fault, I shouldn’t deflect my anger onto them. Thank you!

I know the feeling. I’m not an angry person but I’ve been feeling angry lately. It’s frustrating for sure.

It definitely is very frustrating, we’re very lucky that the people we love care enough to understand that it’s not us 🙂

Well you are lucky. My husband does not understand anything. I don’t show him my anger he shows me his. When you go to the doctor ask them to check your hormone levels. At your age your hormones are strong. Maybe a Gyn checkup. It can’t hurt. I hope you find your answers.

I think some people do struggle to understand and it’s bound to test their patience. I will do, fingers crossed I can get some solution 🙂 thank you 😁
