I’ve never posted here before so nice to meet you all. I am a 21 year old female with anxiety and depression, today I have taken my first citalopram! I’m hoping this ends up having a positive effect on me, I can’t tell if it’s already affecting me or whether I’m thinking about it too much.
I was supposed to be quitting smoking today but I’m going to put that off until I feel more stable.
If anybody ever needs to talk I’m always happy to help

Unless you are an exception to the rule, you will probably find that antidepressants take 2-3 weeks, sometimes longer, to begin working. Stay in touch with your doctor to monitor the potential side effects.
It's a big step to take meds so it is only natural to think about it, a lot.
I like the idea of putting off quitting smoking if you were planning on going cold turkey.

Hi axeldaisy welcome to the group i hope you find it a good group a wide variety of people different ages ! Regards the stopping smoking its best your in the right frame of mind your more likely to succeed ! your on a common anti depressant its very popular with doctors i suppose the reason is it a better tolerated tablet i would say please stuck with it long term to get the best out of it try not to miss a dose i was on it for several years i didnt have much problems but it talks 4 -6 weeks to start working fully !
