I think for me, the main thing was learning that it can't hurt me. My counselor once had me during a session to purposefully think of things to bring on an anxiety attack (with my permission and understanding of course). She did this to talk me through it. I learned attacks rarely last more than 20 minutes and they often follow the same course of events. I'm not suggesting you cause one on purpose, but start really paying attention and noticing the physical symptoms you feel and realizing it's all caused by a misfire of adrenaline.
