Am I imagining it or is it already working? 3rd wk Citalopram-no more side effects and feeling calmer

So I've been taking Citalopram for 3 weeks now. Day 1&2 - nausea and dizziness, 3-4 feeling hot and and on day 4 I also had the worst migraine ever. Day 5 was also nauseaous with dizziness and feeling hot (this was also the day when I went from 10mg to 20mg), in these first five days I also felt extremely thirsty but since these first days I had no side effect at all apart from two minor dizzy feelings and that is all. Is this an indicator of something? Can the side effects still come back at some point (I hope not)?

Also, from like the second week I have been feeling much relaxed about things that normally would just upset me or make me anxious. Could this be just a placebo effect or is it possible that the med started working so early?

I would love to read your opinions and comments.

katesz, I would think you could take a breath now and leave those side effects behind you. Always know that symptoms can and will break through from time to time. That's normal with all of us. It is how you will accept and approach those symptoms should they arise that will make all the difference.

Now is the time to be working on other methods and techniques that you can use to reduce your stress levels as well as learn to cope with any arising symptoms. Acceptance of the symptoms being harmless is the first thing you need to do. Breathing through the symptoms and not giving them a second thought will allow the fear to just pass and not grow. Once you get use to doing this it becomes easier and you won't give it a second thought. It will come and go within seconds as you go on with your day.

If you feel you have unresolved issues, then this is the time also to have therapy, while you are on medication. One day you will be doing this all on your own and be better prepared for it. You are doing very well. Keep going forward xx
