So, I guess when getting tested for vitamin deficiencies, it would also be beneficial to get tested for amino acid deficiencies as well? Specifically, GABA and Glutamine?

I think I'd like to come up with a full list of tests to get accomplished every year since my Dr. is an asshole and won't take the time to do a full work up. He only tested me for:

Vitamin D (25-OH)

Vitamin B12

Magnesium

If you put in the results of your Vitamins ~ with the 'ranges' (which are to the side, in brackets, with the 'measurement', normally followed by /L) , you're likely to get more of a response, from the people who can decipher these results. 😊❤️️

If you're asking for 'more tests', you might as well add in Folate and Ferritin ...

Good fortune in getting your requirements met. GPs seem to be cutting back on far too many blood tests. 😟

Yea, I was looking for beneficial tests to add. Specifically ones that could be contributing to fatigue, pain, weight loss, stamina/energy loss.

Just a thought ~ have you ever had your Thyroid hormones tested? That'd be more to ask for ~ try for TSH, FT4 and FT3.

in reply to LadyBarb

Already done.

What were the results (please don't say 'within range'! Doctors, infamously, don't know how to read blood test results.) ~ it'd help if you published them on the ThyroidUK HU site, and see what they make of them there, as you're not improving. 😟

If you have the results to hand, put in the 'ranges' too. If you don't have them, you're entitled to ask for a copy of them from your Medical Practice. If you've already done that ~ well done! ❤️️

You said your doctor is an ass why still use him? Why use someone you dont like or doesnt tell you anything or do his job none the less.. thats like me asking for a burger but to hold the meat.. isuggest you find a new doctor...

Sometimes, kevoreally , it's not always easy to change doctors ~ as I know all too well. I've got the 'best of a bad lot' ~ and unless I sell up the house (I live in a very rural area in Scotland) ~ and move back to 'civilization' ~ as in a very large town, or city, I have no choice but to do precisely that ~ sell up and move ~ which I will be doing in the Spring next year. 😟

Perhaps Hidden is limited too? I'm sure he'll answer for himself...

Still doesnt hurt to try another doctor thats in your price range if its that bad you would do it or begin to look :) but i see your pov

in reply to kevoreally

It's a pain to switch and many of them are assholes anyway. I just switched to him because my last one rushed me and kept prescribing things that made stuff worse.

I understand that all too well ~ the GP I originally started with in the small Medical Practice, in a small sea-side town (15 miles away, is 'local' here!) ~ put me on 3 meds which I tried to tolerate for a month ~ and it took me a year to 'recover' back to being as sick as ever.

It can be a very tiring process to change from one GP to another ~ and when you're feeling washed out and sick, it's like climbing a mountain ~ only to find you've got another inept GP who doesn't have a clue. It's appalling when you're feeling very ill and have to 'educate' the doctor! In time, you just get to the point of wanting to give up.

NHS cut-backs in the UK mean many things which previously could have been asked for, and received, are no longer done. Consulting times, f-2-f are very short.

I know what you mean, my doctor is the same and blames everything on aniexty as if people with anxiety can't have real health issues, it's extremely frustrating. I hope you get your test your asking for.
