Hi everyone. I wasn't sure what community to post this to so I chose this one ( although with good reason I doubt it is an anxiety symptom). I have an appointment this week with my GP so I will bring this up with her but am curious for now if anyone has experienced short, sharp shooting pains on the left side of the upper chest, almost above the heart area. It is not accompanied by any other symptom like shortness of breath or lightheadness or anything at all, except maybe being taken aback for a split second!
These bursts sometimes trigger a pain on my mid back as well. The reason why I am concerned is because I had gallstones in the past and the pain feels similar to that.
Would you move your Dr appointment for earlier or just wait it out?

Heart attacks and panic attacks from anxiety share a lot of common symptoms.
Whenever you’re in doubt about your symptoms, seek medical care without delay, so yes I would move the appointment forward.
Only medical tests can rule out the possibility of a heart attack. Of course your gall stones might be playing up as well.
Once a heart attack is ruled out, seek effective treatment such as a talking therapy and/or medication if required .
I have added a link to a website which presents a good overview of the situation and has a link to overcoming the panic attacks. If you live in the USA has link to finding a therapist as well.
