Does anyone else suffer this curse? Every morning without fail, eyes open, (oh no!!), off we go with ruminating negative thoughts about everything. Even things that are doubtless positive. (I try to think of my 3 sons but my brain manages to persuade me that that is negative too!!). It's purgatory. Really is.

Hi mooner04, It's not a curse but a suggested thought that we will wake up the same way each and every day. Purgatory can be changed to Heaven on earth with a little retraining of your mind. Mornings are the most difficult for most because of the higher levels of cortisol. But it can be changed by not allowing the ruminating negative thoughts to take over.
first you go to bed not worrying about the same thing happening tomorrow morning. Instead send positive thoughts to your brain that tomorrow will be different, it will be a brand new start to a new day, a new way of thinking.
You wake up the next morning and before your mind has a chance to start ruminating with all kinds of thoughts, you start some relaxation/imagery/meditation thoughts as well as deep breathing. I use a tape with headphones. While listening to that, there is no room in my brain to take in anything but the positive reconfirming suggestions I hear. Deep breathing while listening to these calming thoughts helps reduce the adrenaline and allow a peace and calm to overcome you. After 20 minutes or so, you open your eyes ready to start your day on a positive note.
The more consistent you are in making this a daily practice, the easier it becomes to push away the misery of waking up to negativity every day. Worth a try.
