I am on a generic of prozac. I have been on it for 21 days. I weaned off cipralex and then started the prozac. I am feeling soo anxious on this prozac. My doctor says it should be working by now. But I am jittery, anxious all the time, have negative thoughts, just awful. Should I change my antidepressant again?
Thanks

Every body reacts differently to medication, generic or not (has the same active ingredients).
Statistically, new medication kicks in 4-6 weeks after starting but can be shorter or longer times.
If these symptoms are new and become intolerable (use this word when talking to the doctor), then you have 2 options (1) go back to the previous medication unless there is a reason why you changed (2) try a different medication (there are more to choose from).
The end choice is always yours - make the decision together with the doctor who has the clinical experience but not the person with the symptoms.
It pays to make your own record of the medication changes for your medication history (choose one from the many available on line).
A medication history should include details of all medicines (name and dose, reason why you stopped) that you have tried in the past, current and recently discontinued medicines.
I'm currently on Prozac & I absolutely hate it. I'm so down & depressed my anxiety is sky high. I'm tired all day. My body hurts so bad. I'm actually going to the Drs today I can't stand it
