Levels of cortisol are at their peak in our bodies at 8 a.m., it is a fight or flight hormone that humans once needed to help face the dangers of the day but we don't do fight or flight at 8 a.m. any more so it just hangs around in our system making us feel anxious.

There is a natural anti dote to cortisol in Green Tea called L-thianine, many people find it helpful to start tge day with a mug of green tea left to brew for 5 minutes, 20 teabags of Green Tea cost less that £$1 from any supermarket, well worth a try,

I tried the caffeine free Green Tea after reading your suggestion days before but it didn't work for me. I've ordered Lemon Balm tea and am awaiting it's arrival. I've been tinkering with aromatherapy as well with surprisingly immediate short term outcome.

Hi, mornings are most difficult for me too. As soon as I realize I'm conscious the anxiety begins. If you're looking for ways to get around this, I've found that waking up earlier and immediately doing something active sets a whole new tone for my day. I think it's because it gives me a way to calm my anxiety. If you take a morning walk, focus on your neighbors' landscaping or other things that are happening around you. Breathe deep. A quick walk or hike, or if you're more active (or even if you're not) a trip to the gym does the trick. I find that on the days that I get up an hour earlier to do these things, I'm more productive throughout the day the my anxiety isn't as bad that day. Hope this helps!

Hi. Currently this, and sleeping, is my biggest struggle. Like many others have shared, as soon as I wake up without even thinking about it my anxiety reminds me it's there. I don't cry but instead I'm gripped by a irrational fear directed at nothing. I don't hyperventilate or anything, I'm simply mentally scared for some reason. Do look into Dr Claire Weekes method. Seems to help but I still have minor setbacks. I used to love going to bed for sleep and waking up! Now the whole experience is totally different. Stay strong, we will get back to where we want so desperately to be.

The Green Tea doesn't work for everybody, I myself do find it helpful. I think there's a YouTube by Claire Weekes on Setbacks.

I'll be interested to know how you get on with Lemon Balm. I've been chewing the leaves very occasionally from my garden over the past 40 years but not often enough to decide if it's effective.

I just received my lemon balm tea leaves today and will try them tomorrow. Am I meant to chew them or drink it as tea?
