Living with high heart rate due to anxiety, and coming off of beta blockers.

Hello there. Recently in July I got a fitbit for my birthday. I've been under a lot of stress since moving over to the UK two years ago and it's been hitting me lately. I noticed my heart rate once went as high as 170 when walking quickly to work. That freaked me out so I went to the doctor who prescribed beta blockers and gave me blood tests and an ECG. Blood tests came back great with low chloestral, and ECG was good too. Though I have lived with anxiety and panic attacks in the past, I never thought to monitor my heart rate before when it happened.

SO my question is this; do many other or even any other people live with a high heart rate due to anxiety? How do you deal with it day to day and still live a normal life?

The doctor thinks it's all anxiety and I think he's probably right. He's leaving me on the beta blockers for another month and says we'll talk about what to do next then.

I'm nervous about coming off the beta blockers....I wonder things like 'will my heart rate just shoot back up?'

Has anyone any experience of this?

Many thanks for your replies <3 :)

Where did you move from to the UK ?.

Maybe when you come off beta-blockers you could try Magnesium if you haven't already that is. It calms the nervous system, so calms the heart rate. I love the stuff !!.

Hi Tim, thanks for that! When you say magnesium do you mean like just in a vitamin form? I'd be happy to give it a go! I moved from County Kerry in Ireland to the UK and I think I'm only coming to terms with the stress of it now as odd as that sounds! Everyone here is nice so I've no complaints :)

Magnesium as in a mineral, kinda vitamin but alone and not part of a multi vitamin/mineral tablet. Magnesium glycinate or taurate are the best. You won't regret it !!.

The one I buy from the US. It's the cheapest you'll find and as long as you stick with 120 tablets and cheapest postage which takes 10 days to deliver, you'll save 7 quid compared to Amazon.
