Hi all how many things does an ecg rule out? I had one yesterday and it was perfect but I can't help but still be worried about my heart. Something just don't feel right, sad I can't get over this anxiety of my heart, if that's what it is. I hope! I am fixated on it from the minute I open my eyes to the minute I close my eyes.

Sandy, if I fixated on my right ear feeling for pain from the minute I open my eyes to the minute I close my eyes then before very long time I would begin to feel pain in my right ear. I guarantee it. That's what you are doing with your heart.

You've had the ecg which said your heart is fine but you're unable to accept it. So go to your doctor and ask for a second opinion, some other test of the condition of your heart. But when that comes back 'fine' you must then accept the decision of your doctors and acknowledge this is high anxiety.

As I often say: you can't recover from an illness you dont have, so instead direct your attention to recovering from the illness you do have - Anxiety.

Your over sensitised nerves have played a trick on you but it is very, very common. You've been told that you don't have an illness by a doctor following clinical tests but you think the doctors have got it wrong.

Such is the power if our perverse minds and the way they can trick and delude us.

I recommend you accept the diagnosis and explore the postings on this forum to find your road to recovery from anxiety.

Thank you Jeff. I've made slight improvements today. It has been better. But I'm sitting here now and all it takes is a slight pain in my left ear/chest/neck which I've just had and it sets me off! Gonna be hard to eradicate that reaction, if I get the chance too. Is an ecg quite conclusive then?? I've narrowed my health anxiety down to strictly heart, but that's not not the best part of the body to be concerned about with anxiety because of all the symptoms.

There you go again, Sandy, talking about your super-healthy heart again when, may I suggest, you should have narrowed your health anxiety down to strictly your nervous system. Or I should say, you're over sensitised nervous system which you are keeping sensitised by constantly feeding it with fear. Your nervous system returns the favour by constantly bombarding you with symptoms of anxiety that are indistiguishable from genuine physical illness: everything from aches and pains to nausea and dizziness, visual shimmers and palpatations to name only a few. These symptoms of anxiety are frauds an fakes - and I can prove it.

Stress won't show up in an x-ray, nervous exhaustion won't show up on an ultrascan and anxiety won't show up on a CT scan. That's because they only exist as glitches in your sensitised nervous system, they are sham symptoms but very good at convincing us they're the real thing - specially as they know they can always rely on Doctor Google to back them up.

I think you've heard of the Acceptance Method for recovery from anxiety disorder devised by Claire Weekes and set out in her first book 'Self help with your nerves'. The methods set out in that book will heal you of all the pains and bad feelings that trouble you and is worth serious consideration.

I just order d her book very excited to read it bc I too have heart anxiety. I've had 5 ekg since Jan., wore a heart monitor for 3 days and had a echocardiogram done. Everything thing came back normal but I can't help but getting scared every time I get a pain in my chest or feel pressure in my chest

Aliciar, if you've had all those ekgs and an echogram and they couldn't find anything wrong you'll live to be one hundred. At least. Those pains in your chest aren't heart pains, they're muscular pain caused by nervous tension and the fact that you're obsessing about that part of your body so much your nerves begin to 'imagine' pain there for you.

I think you will find the Weekes book brings freedom from bewilderment and provides immediate reassurance as well as showing a route for recovery. You will feel that it is personally written for you. I wish you God's speed for your recovery.

I never feel that tense to be honest Jeff so the pains make little sense to me. I've just downloaded a new book by Dr Reid Wilson and will finish that along with Claire Weekes book this week. Hopefully help me sort myself out as it's ruining my life big time. This new book has mentioned the fact anxiety preys on our weekness' (chest heart) then makes the most of it by bullying that area. Nasty horrible vile putrid illness.

I have noticed long ago that anxiety attacks our weak points, in my case my eyes, I had an accident to one as a child. Many of my symptoms of anxiety tend to be visual from scintillating scotamata to black marks in my vision for a second after I blink. Early summer I went to a place I had had great anxiety 2 years previous, a very pleasant place it so happens. Whilst there I noticed a sickle shaped black mark when I squeezed my eyes. But I didn't fear it because I knew it was anxiety and I'd had them before and they always go. Sure enough after about 6 weeks I noticed it had gone completely. It was because I didn't fear it, I didn't fuel the anxiety with fear, that it went. That's the secret, if we can control our fear then recovery comes quickly.

Thanks for your reply Jeff. I just find it so hard. I wake up first thing in the morning and bang something happens in my chest. When I'm not tense or anxious atall as I have just awoken from a shift in bed. So god knows why these pains are happening. I've tried ignronjbg them for a year and they still persist! Always in a different form too, just when I've got to grips with one another one will read it's ugly head!
