Hi, have you experienced anxiety before? Is it the feeling of vertigo that is casing you to panic? X

Is there anything you can think of that's triggered it this time?

I can tell from experience of many periods of anxiety on different scales is that once I address it and cut out any bad foods, soda, drink and drugs I begin to get better and I feel fine again. I can't even drink caffeine anymore. I exercise and medicate and this helps massively.

what has triggered me is that I have had an accident which I thought brought on vertigo or ear problem but hospital tests cannot relate the symptons with the conditions therefore they want a brain scan and now I cant focus on the left side of my head and balance is terrible which has caused the anxiety to panic.. my family are coming over as I wont be alone

yes experienced anxiety before but not on this scale.. the nausea has come from the motion sickness from my backflip from a pedlow boat the thing is the hospital has checked my ears and eyes and no concerns around balance disorder.. they want a brain scan done as I cant walk properly and I cant focus which is causing the anxiety to the point of panic and I keep crying and climbing the walls.. I rang samarians

Sounds like the anxiety is coming from the fear of not understanding what is happening and why you are feeling that way. Does that sound possible?

It seems most likely that you're feeling this way because of the accident and not for any other emotional reason, which is much better as you can pin point where the feeling is coming from rather than it being some Trauma from childhood you're unaware of for example.

My advise is to just lay down and relax, watch tv or whatever.

I don't know the details of your accident but it's very normal to feel an aftershock as it's a traumatic experience. Anxiety is a physical manifestation of stress.

Make sure you stay away from stimulants like caffeine and soda drinks and remember to take deep breaths

I've had the same thing. I went to the ER they did an MRI and few other tests. Everything came back normal. They gave me motion sickness pills and told me to see my doc. He ran a bunch of other tests. I cleared them all and it was explained as anxiety. I still deal with it here and there. But everyone tells me there's nothing to worry about.

I have had an MRI it isn't as bad as you imagine :-)

Have had the same, the dr ordered an MRI to make sure it wasn't anything serious.

In the end, he suggested that anxiety can lead to some pretty crazy physical symptoms. He started me on a low dose antidepressant and within a week all of my vertigo disappeared.

Just something to consider.

An MRI is pretty standard procedure with vertigo and dizziness. Try not to jump to assumptions. I know you said the dr thinks it has to do with your brain, but the inner ear system is part of that neurological system so it can all be an inner ear imbalance that will take time and physical therapy to heal.

it started off when I backflipped from a pedlow last week in spain.. an hour after being on shore I was suffering with sea sickness and the shits.. I had medical attention after the 2nd day as I felt I was on a boat, I had some treatment and returned to home.. so much anxiety and I am unable to get my balance and worried I have damanaged my brain. my doctor or hospital cannot link my symptoms with ear probems so they think its the brain which is causing my anxiety.. If I look in the mirror I cannot see properly or I am not upright.. I lean to the right side.. I cant stop googling probems and my panic attacks have been so severe my family have been with me

The MRI will tell you all you need to know. Until then, just try and distract yourself so you're not worrying yourself into worsening symptoms! I know I'm not a doctor, but seeing as how you can trace it back to an event...it sounds like this is NOT serious. It may require some treatment if you damaged a vertebrae in your neck or possibly caused a concussion, but I truly don't think this sounds hugely serious. Try and relax and tell yourself that right now...you have nothing that tells you this is something to worry about. Annoying symptoms, yes, but until someone tells you otherwise for SURE...don't borrow worry!

Karen, so sorry to hear this - but it DOES sound like Vertigo to me, and the panic attacks are because of it. I have been there - really bad vertigo and panic attacks. Vertigo can be caused by the tiny crystals in your ears coming loose when you go upside down for instance. A knowledgeable doctor can do a certain manoeuvre to relieve it for you. I hope that you won't think of suicide. This is treatable, try to breathe calmly and think good thoughts, if you can. I know it's awful and not easy. Best of luck, try to stay calm if you can.
