Alcohol is not the best chem. for depression, myself, I would be looking forward to see an alcohol councillor, don't worry I will bet the councillor is a cool person, I wouldn't mind being an alcohol councillor.

The fact that you have identified your alcohol intake as something that you 'use' rather than something that you 'need' to have recourse to alcohol speaks volumes. I had a drinking problem which began when my ex-wife took two of my children to Australia despite I having a Court Order which said that the children would live with me with reasonable access to the Mother and so by taking them to Australia she broke that Order. I haven't seen them since and alcohol, for me, was the only coping mechanism I could think of. Your counsellor will be able to help you should you allow them to. That sounds like a strange statement but isn't really when you think about it. Your inner self will be battling with your outside self, the inner self will be urging you to carry on with the alcohol because it actually temporarily removes all worries from you whereas your outer self will be promising your counsellor that you will indulge in any behaviour he wishes you to present with. It is hard, very, very hard to come off alcohol as I know from experience. Once you are abstinent there is a tablet you could take called Antabuse which was developed in order specifically to address this very topic. Drink on top of the Antabuse and you will die. Seems a little extreme but have a word with either your doctor or your counsellor to gauge their opinions. I wish you well.
