Why is it acceptable for someone to yell at me just because I have mental health issues? What other illness would tolerate this? Why does society accept this as normal? I am a good person yet I spend my life being yelled at by people for being ill

Mental Health Bigotry
Hi Kittyjump. That's awful that happened to u. Unacceptable. I've had that and my sister who's legally blind has people yelling at her like she's deaf. Or they talk to me about her when she's standing right there. Some people r stupid
That's terrible I do not understand how people get away with these things?
Hello
I really hate that you are going through this, some people are ignorant...speak up for yourself and let them know that if they can't respect you, get the hell out of your face...you don't have to take that type of disrespect from anyone!!
That's horrible we don't need negative people or negativity in our lives. X
I always end up alone because people just let me down, I am the only person who never does
I've learnt to have no expectations of people sadly. I have had to distance myself from family members who don't get it even when I've explained clearly (I also have IBS) but still get negativity and difficult situations which I have decided I can do without! My world is a bit smaller but have realised I like it that way! Xx
I can very much understand that, the problem I have is that everyone is that way, so either I accept my life alone or accept the way they act, it isn't a good choice
I guess learning to have boundaries with people. Also finding ways to be around like minded people. I struggled after having my daughter I felt quite lonely friends dropped off the earth but I recently started going to a meditation class once a week and it's nice to be around people that have a similar interest and not to feel judged x
That is hard to do though, and why should people who are ill have to do that? That feels to me like an excuse, if you saw someone yelling at someone who is physically disabled would that be acceptable? But with mental illness we have to understand?
This kind of behaviour from people made me a misanthrope.
