Having a DP/DR episode

So im currently in the "i dont exist or nothing around me exists" zone. Im not sure what triggered it. Maybe coming back to my parents house after not sleeping here for the past year? The time of the day? Or maybe because im still functioning with only 3 hours of sleep? Or all of the above. I can usually control it but recently this is getting out of hand and its scaring me.

Sleep is as important as oxygen, water and food. Easy to say, hard to do but.....get some sleep!!

Vbee is right. I do feel for you in this situation and have been there myself in doing entirely too many activities and it is not a great feeling. My sympathy to you in this situation. There are times one is too tired to sleep and in that state, some variance of techniques learned can bring on sleep. Your health care provider may be of assistance or if in the UK there is the Expert Patient Course. However, there are times that no matter what you do or try, there are no results. The next best thing is trying to clear the mind and rest - a good rest is just as effective as sleep. One technique I found effective is holding one's breath for a count, exhaling and doing it again in slow sequences, eventually you lose count and wake up from the efforts. These are deep breaths, pause (one thousand one, one thousand two, one thousand three [perhaps up to five] and exhale very hard.) Some may find this effective while others may not - you just have to try to see if it does help. Otherwise, remaining still and resting and clearing the mind of the day's minutia slow breathing may help. These were techniques learned from attending the Expert Patient's Programme years ago that I found effective for myself. Again, if you see a health care professional for advice, this would be a good thing, Wishing you future success in beating this.

Definitely. There is so much research currently on meditation and it's amazing effects on the cortisol production by activating alpha and delta waves. Even if we ARE sleeping, if we are not entering deep restorative sleep then anxiety and depression will continue.
