Hi I've been on Sertraline for 2years now and I really want to come off it as it makes me feel numb and I have no sex Drive what so ever but the last time I came off my anxiety came back in full force so I don't know what to do plus I am really anxious about coming off it. Any thoughts? Also any tips on how to deal with worry?
Antdipressants!!: Hi I've been on Sertraline... - Anxiety Support
Antdipressants!!
You should ask your doctor for an alternative to Sertraline that doesn't have the undesired physical side effect. Then discuss how to taper off the Sertraline and replace it with the alternative.
Why don't you try a different anti depressant? Are you in therapy? I think you need to work on your anxiety otherwise as you said your anxiety wil return when coming off the medication.
Hope you find a solution 😀
I am with Jeff and Aazz.
It's time for a medication review with your doctor. There are so many different drugs available that there is bound to be one that suits your body better.
Working on your TRUST in the doctor and yourself, being partners in the decision making will decrease your anxiety. Having said that, if you need a few sessions of therapy focusing on your anxiety will do wonders.
Definitely do not go cold turkey. A taper is required.
I was prescribed that, now I'm on Lexapro. Why don't you discuss the situation with your doctor, so he came put you on something else.
Thanks everyone for the advice. I went to my doc recently and she said nothing she can do I've been on all ssri's which have the same effect and I've been on venlafaxine and mirtzapine I think that's how you spell it. Mirtzapine was a good one concerning sexual side effects but I had terrible neck pain so had to come off it. I am having a med review under a phyciatrist at the hosp as they were considering an add on medication for me but I'm doubting this now as that will probably cause more sexual side effects or will just stay the same. Hopefully I will be sorted soon
My brother is a doctor and he doesn't prescribe ssri's anymore. He gets his patients on Valdoxin. No side effects, No tapering. Works on a melatonin reuptake inhibitor. May have to have liver tests every 6 months.....
