Pain in legs after a flight

So I just got back from a 2 hour flight and a 4 hour car journey and I just got into bed and my legs hurt. They ache and it kinda feel like a burn and tingly feeling and both my legs are kinda warm to touch. I'm panicking it's a blood clot. I fly once a year. My legs don't look swollen. I'm only 20 but I'm still scared it's a blood clot and I'll die. Could it just be aching muscles from the travelling?

You are right to be concerned about the possibility of deep vein thrombosis (DVT).

DVT usually occurs after inactivity of 4 hours or more. Each person will react differently so hard to rule it out in or out in a particular case. The only way to be sure is by seeing your doctor for a referral to have an ultrasound done.

Things you can do right now

* to put you feet up higher than your heart (on a pillow or turn a chair upside down in bed),

* drinking some water

* moving your legs

* massage along the length of your leg away from your heart

If pain persists, see your doctor.

The feeling has gone away now it mostly feels like a muscle ache now. There's still no swelling or discolouration and they don't feel so warm anymore
