Brain fog and difficulty to focus

So I woke up feeling fine this morning but then later in the afternoon I had dinner with my friends and I started feeling really anxious and spaced out, I found it really difficult to focus , I still feel slightly like as I'm typing this. I've noticed this happen to me before a few times whenever I'm surrounded by a lot of people and I think it something to do with my brain having too many racing thoughts that it shuts down to cope with all the stress. Question is how do l snap out of the brain fog and bring my focus back whenever it happens??

And also I think its because I did so many embarrassing things today that I kinda feel depressed and overloaded by it.

I feel the exact same way sometimes. It is stress.. mine happens maybe when my kids are being really demanding and I'm trying to get something done on top of other things that may be going on in my mind. Being tired I think makes me worse.

For me I just try to like remove Myself from the situation ( in my mind) and breathe. Or maybe excuse your self to the bathroom if you around a lot of people and go in there and have some quiet time to get it together. So you can think more clearly about what's going on

Thanks for the reply!. I've been trying to juggle a lot of things lately and have been doing some things that are out of my comfort zone. I have social anxiety so sometimes things like being in a posh restaurant or any place where I feel out of place is where I tend to get brain fog. I tend to think people are judging me badly and that makes me really stressed. Again, thank you for your advice I will definitely try it. :)

Do you have any issues with sleep? I know that one of the biggest precursors to issues with brain fog and mental confusion/lack of focus/etc. can be due to sleep deprivation (anxiety as well) even if it's just for a short period of time that you are suffering from it. If there is some correlation or overlap between poor quality sleep and these instances, that could be the source of the problem. In the mean time, removing yourself from the situation like Elizabeth04 mentioned would be a great idea... relaxing breathing techniques could be a good start.

Oh, and if I had a nickel for every time I did something embarrassing each day, I'd be rolling in $$$!!! Even if it was REALLY embarrassing, no one is going to even remember that you did it after a few minutes/hours... :-)

Thanks for replying . Yeah I have been lacking some sleep lately because of work and other things. Haha I normally don't mind embarassing myself because Im so used to it but my social anxiety has been going up and down lately, and I think its because I'm trying new experiences which triggers my social anxiety even more, but I'm sure I'll get over it eventually. I have been trying the 5rule breathing technique and it seems to be working when Im feeling tensed and anxious but I havent tried it yet when lm having a brain fog, I will try it next time. Thank you for the advice :).

OMG regarding doing embarrassing things im the worst so i understand 😄-i pay for my food at drive thru and pull away with waiting for my food- i go in and pay for my gas and then drive away without pumping the gas- leave my keys in ignition overnight etc etc etc....so i understand about embarrassment and sometimes think im the only one who does these dorky things while in "brain fog"-- good luck to you 😁🐬🍀
