So weird

Well I've discovered something weird.. I have major anxiety when I sleep and last night I was having major anxiety and I left my bedroom and went downstairs and fell asleep just fine on the couch. I don't know why it was easier for me to sleep downstairs opposed to sleeping in my room. Is anyone else like this?

Hello...so anxiety hit and you hit the couch. Over the years, I've slept on the couch, the extra bedroom bed, on the carpet with my service dog, on the daybed in our office, in the passenger's seat in the car in the garage, in the large wicker chair on my balcony...due to my inability to sleep. Did not have anxiety attacks at bedtime from my PTSD, but had nightmares.

So don't know if this is any help to you, but people with anxiety do sleep in places other than their bedrooms for whatever reason.

It certainly drives me nuts I can't be like everyone else and sleep in my bed lol :/

Yep, i do that too. It's very rare for me to spend the entire night in my own bed. I usually move around between the couch, the floor, the spare bedroom, in a hot bath, on the hammock in the backyard, on a blanket in the backyard, and on and on. Some times are better than others, but when my anxiety is at it's worst, I just have the need to change up my scenery sometimes, especially when I can feel my husband's tension rising. He's pretty supportive, but when he's trying to sleep, he can easily lose his patience with me which makes my anxiety that much worse, because I try to prevent it or control it and I honestly can't when I wake up in the middle of the night with it. SOmetimes it's just easier.

I feel your struggle! lol I feel so bad for my fiancé who has to deal with my tossing and turning. I hope your anxiety gets better at night!

I did the same exact thing last night... I tried falling asleep, I kept jumping out of my sleep in panic. I went in the living room finally and slept a good 5 hours.

Gosh I'm the same, it's an accomplishment if I get solid 5 hours of sleep lol yea my living room couches are magical or something cause I can get some sleep when I sleep on them.

Yes, I can relate so much. I had to do the same thing last night. Went in my back room where the couch and TV is and managed to fall asleep. It took we a little while cuz my anxiety was high and I had some fears but I fell asleep for at least a total of 4 to five hours which was better than the last two weeks when I was sleeping in my own bed. And the funny thing is I was once sleeping on my couch before and noticed I get better sleep there. But I thought since I was doing better with my sleep that I can return to my bed. But now I'm convinced the couch is better than my bed 😩. However, though, I'm still restless and must find a way to get better sleep. I'm trying to prevent from taking sleeping meds.

See that's my thing! I don't want to take sleep medicine yet, and my couch just brings so much comfort for some odd reason 😩 lol getting a good night sleep is so important and it sets the tone for the next day! If you find something that works let me know!!

Yes I have been doing this lately at night time. I've not been sleeping very well at all and find it way easier to sleep on the sofa. Strangely enough during the day I can sleep in my bed just fine.

Its terrible cause my bed is so much more comfortable then my sofa lol but my sofa feels more safe to me and I don't know why.

Yeah my bed is very comfy but my sofa isn't bad. However I think soon we should work on being able to sleep in our beds again.
