Hi everyone. I've come here to get some other's views and experience. I started coming off my meds of Klonopin and Lamotrigine about seven months ago. Now I'm completely off Lamotrigine and almost off Klonopin. I was on 8mg a day and down to .125 as needed. Just working on a more holistic approach because of money and insurance and overall well being.
New here: Hi everyone. I've come here to get... - Anxiety Support
New here
Hi,
Thats what I did. I went on Citalopram for about 3 months which allowed me to dig myself out of the deep well i had managed to get myself in! As soon as I felt myself getting better - I ditched the meds and then I could help myself more. As you say - holistically is ideal but anyway is great rather than relying on meds.
I feel much better, but baby steps - as they say!

Hi BRANDENDBAILEY, Congrats on coming off your meds. You are just about there on the Klonopin. I see you have used small cuts to wean. I weaned off my benzos (Xanax & Ativan) It was the best feeling ever once I was off and my brain healed. It's a wonderful feeling. I now use Meditation and Deep Breathing in place of meds. All the years that I didn't believe I had the answer within me the whole time. Acceptance is another thing that became the turning point. Finally accepting that this was anxiety and it could not hurt me. Using these tools on a daily basis keeps me at an even keel and prevents any anxiety caused break throughs to get out of control.
You will find what works for you but it needs to be practiced everyday not just if and when anxiety is bad. Know that those days will happen from time to time, but you will have the strength and knowledge to get through it. I wish you well in the last .125 left off your Klonopin. You did great and I wish you continued success. We're here if you need additional support. You are never alone.
I've been working out, doing deep breathing, yoga. Also last week started on passion flower and it seems to help. I was on those benzos for 15+ years and I am really trying to build my mental and physical to be able to combat my natural anxiety. It's sure been tough and I'll be glad, as will my wife, when I can be 'free' of the meds for sure.
I was left on a small dose of benzos for 30 years. It wasn't easy even at that small dose in getting off. Like you I used exercise (aquatics) that helped immensely in using up that extra adrenaline and upping the Endorphin levels.
You are doing great. You do it for yourself but the ones around you will be happy just as much. Make it a good day and BREATHE....
