Hi Istites10 and Welcome to the Anxiety Forum. When anxiety takes over our lives, it's nice to know we have a place to come to where we won't feel so all alone as well as get the understanding we need.

Looking forward to hearing about your journey with health anxiety over the years. x

YES! I get the slightest pain in the back of my calf & my mind immediately goes to "oh no I have a blood clot". Or my head hurts and I just KNOW that I have a brain tumor. Its exhausting!

This page has been very helpful though!!

Hello and welcome. Anxiety of any sort is a big pain in the a**. Sounds like you are doing well now and I hope that continues for very long while.

I wish I were. Being afraid all the time is horrible.

Oh,my. Sorry to hear that. So am very glad you are here now. I don't have health anxiety, but others on this venue do. You'll have a very good support group. And I do hope your anxiety begins to lessen very soon.

Hi Istites10, welcome :) I'm also new here and coming round to what seems to be my health issues as anxiety rooted. May I ask what you mean by health anxiety and when it began?

Hi

Health anxiety is very complex and unpleasant, coupled with General anxiety this is in your mind thinking that every pain or ache is something bad, it is exaggerated thinking over and over giving you feelings of panic and self diagnosing, then you feel the need to go to your Gp or hospital. Trauma in the past or present may be a trigger which will cause an attack. Mine was when my family members past away with lots of health problems so I thought it would happen to me bringing on a lot of symptoms. Very debilitating but there is help and support, especially here where you will hear it from the horses mouth rather than hearsay.

Good luck

It's a great community of people, I agree I should have joined years ago also! It's really helped to talk to others with similar problems and to learn from each other.

Welcome! 🙂

Welcome.

I also have anxiety that focusses on my health since I've been chronically ill for over a year. I swear anxiety makes it worse because anxiety about health is very scary. It causes my symptoms to be amplified.

It is exhausting I know. My health issues aside like others who suffer, every leg pain is a clot, every chest pain a PE, if I wake up dizzy it's a brain tumour...its very tiring worrying about something each day I know.

You aren't alone.

Hi Nikkims.

Panic attacks are awful. What I do is close my eyes, breath slowly, in through your mouth blow out. Focus on that otherwise you will hyperventilate, which makes it worse. Distracting techniques work as in some fav music, say to yourself a few times i am going to get through this i am ok, and allow it to pass. Then you will feel yourself calm down. Do this evertime and you will get stronger xx
