Dental abscess

I recently got told I have dental abscess it isn't painful and is very small, I am unable to get the antiobiotics until Monday but I'm really panicing I'm ill from it. I think it's all in my head as I am attending an event tonight and I'm worried I'll be ill for it. I don't know what to do?

Hi I had really bad infection in gum after tooth extraction the best thing you can do while waiting is rinse / gargle with salt water this will help with infection till you get antibiotics , hope this helps

Hollie, if the abcess isn't causing you any pain don't worry, you won't fall ill with it so go ahead to that event, you'll be fine. It's a good idea to rinse with salt water as Sharon suggests. Once you get the antibiotics that should soon clear up the abscess.

If you do get tooth pain anytime I recommend a tube of Orogel which you rub into the surrounding gums, it's brilliant, it comes in a small dark red box and both Sainsbury and Superdrug sell it in the uk.

We all do that, Hollie, think ourselves into illness. Incidentally that gel is called Oragel not Orogel, always good to have a tube around, of course the old fashioned cure of chewing on cloves works too.

Hi.Wondering why you can't get the antibiotics until Monday. Taking it now might ease your mind, not that it would make a big difference immediately, but because you are doing something abut the infection.

Perhaps you should ask your dental professional if there is a reason for you not to go out tonight.

Why can't you get to where your antibiotics are? Believe me, it this was a serious problem that needed to be attended to right now, don't you think some one would help you get the meds. Please just take the advice from the others who have replied to you, go and enjoy yourself tonght.

I don't think it's that serious as other people had said if I'm not in pain I will be fine
