I'm scared of sleeping, yesterday I slept well but today I woke up in the middle of the night like i'm dreaming, short of breath, heart beating fast and feeling dizzy, and is freaking me out, now I can't sleep because I have fear of not waking up. Please how can I sleep?

I hope you found away to sleep. I came home exausted after a terrible panic attack that woke me up last night around 11:30pm. I did finally go back to sleep around 3 only to get up at 6 am and go to work. I fell asleep afte I got home for an hour but am now wide awake.

Hi fulufhedzani, why would you fear not waking up? And if you didn't wake up, you would no longer be afraid. Having said that, remember that anxiety is always there in our mind ready to appear whether asleep or awake. Being sleep deprived certainly doesn't help with anxiety. Your body and mind need the rest. All the symptoms you described, we have all felt. I remember the nights of waking up in terror. Was it a bad dream or my subconscious bringing up the fears of the day. That is when I started turning to my relaxation tapes and deep breathing to calm me back down and naturally put me back to sleep. Listening to the imagery and suggestions on the tape stay in your mind and push aside the negative thoughts that are there. It needs to be done everyday in order to see results. I do it morning and before bed to assure a restful sleep and a good start to a new day. Hope this helps some.

Thank you Teerings3 and Agora1, I fell asleep but for an hour and I didn't want to go to work because I still want to sleep. I don't know if I will get use to this anxiety, I tried and consult at the hospital but they just said is nothing serious and they gave me some pills for reducing acid in my body but I feel is not enough.

Hello! I'm sorry to hear about the trouble sleeping you're having. Sleep is essential to the normal rhythm of the body. When you sleep, the body resets itself. Not sleeping disrupts the body’s ability to reset and messes up the electrical signaling - which can then trigger more fear or panic. It sounds like you need a way to balance your electrical system, as well as steady your emotions. Nature tends to do this best. Try getting outdoors in nature a few times a day for about 15 minutes. Also bring some plants into your work or living space.

Essential oils work well for the emotions and sleep issue. Studies have even shown them to be as effective as NSAIDs and Zanax. Jasmine, benzoin, vetivert, and neroli are all good for sleep and intense fears. A combination would work better than any of them individually.

The electical system is a bit harder to fix, and is the biggest priority you probably need to address in order to feel better. First, I would eliminate all electronics from the area where you sleep. These have been shown to disrupt sleep cycles. Second, bring fresh flowers or plants into where you sleep. They emit atoms that help reset your electrical system and help you body balance itself naturally. You can also take flower essences or energy nutrients to help your body. You can take them internally, as well as spray them onto the pillow, bedding and in the air around your bed before sleep. Mimilus, rock rose, pine, holly and tomato are all good for fear and intensity, as well as help with breaking patterns.

You might want to take a look at these products. They include essential oils, a large amount of energy nutrients, and work with the body’s electrical system. So it might be an easy answer for you. I’ve had several friends have immediate success with them. If I were you I would probably start with Calm or Recovery. But you can look at this page to help you see which one might work best for you. kaliana.com/pages/find-your...
