Am I able to take stool softener if I threw up yesterday

T123, why would you need a stool softener if there is nothing in your colon? If you continue to have digestive problems, it would be best to see a GI doctor. There seems to be more of an emotional disorder along with the Intestinal issue.

I feel like I have to poo but it won't come out it's too hard

Allthough stool softeners are more gentle on the colon than a laxative, if this is a continual problem, it needs to be checked into. Your diet as well as not enough hydration plays big time into constipation. Increase your Fiber in your diet and drink 8 glasses a water a day should help balance your colon. Again it is always wise to see a doctor regarding colon problems. If not looked into, the straining can cause eventual hemorrhoids and fissures which you would want to avoid.
